GET CARTER
Hey everyone, I am doing an oil change on my wife's 2012 Dodge Journey R/T with the 3.6L penastar engine, the reason why I ask if theres a miss-print in the manual is because it says the engine with filter takes 5.2L of engine oil. I purchased 6L of oil and just finished putting 5.5L in, I let the r/t sit for about 2 hours in my garage and checked the oil. It is showing just on the lowest *safe* mark. So I am wondering if you are putting roughly 6L of oil in? Thank you.
biohazard
the lowest safe mark means you still have enough oil in it.... you dont want to overfill the oil so as long as it shows good just leave it....

Yes I do understand that but it should be at the max mark on the dip stick. I was just wondering if anyone else has noticed this.

GET CARTER
as per 2012 owners manual page 5483.6 L 6 quarts 5.6 liters I found the issue! I just went out to the journey and pulled out the owners manual again, it is for the wrong year! I emailed my sales person at dodge and will send me out the correct one for my 2012. I just downloaded the one online from dodge for the time being. Thanks again!

onecrazyfoo4u
And remember, you're supposed to check the oil still hot ~5 minutes after shutting it off. Not 2 hours later when the oil is cold. You will find the level drops down quite a bit when the engine is cold.
