burgandy25
So our 2010 DJ has been on the road for a few years and now I don't believe normal driving stress will cause this but our DJ seams to have poor and has subpar body panels and body gaps. For instance our '10 hood sticks out probably a centimeter or two past the front quarter panel clip. I know it has an overhang over the grill and such but this fitment does not match up because of the hood crease that blends into the quarter panel as well. That crease also has about a centimeter or two difference, its only noticeable up-close but still our Camaro and Astra don't have this problem. The gaps on both sides also are of different sizes one side is wider than the other, and the rear hatch also has the problem. Everyone knows about the rear bumper fitting like $#!t as well. The two sides that pop out and were engineered on an etch a sketch. It looks terrible on our Gold DJ because the rubbing has gone through the paint into the plastic and the plastic is black under the paint if you didn't know so there is some pretty shatty detail in the car even at a distance from looking at it at the rear. Also above the right exhaust there is this bulge that has cause hairline fractures in the paint and again you can see black behind this which in time will cause the paint to chip and fall away (had this on previous Dodge go figure). I also am not to fond of the mud-flaps again having being connected to the rear bumper. The shake A LOT if you grab on to them and wiggle them around, it causes the whole rear bumper to flex and bend and can only imagine if you are driving next to our DJ on the freeway that the rear bumper will be wiggling and dancing around, which is another engineering failure on the DJ. Other than that oh... the rust, oh the rust, rust spots here, rust spots there, I know I live in MI with salted roads but every month during the winter on a nice day I take it to a self serve car wash and wash the car down even the bottom, and the rust is crazy! Already the door joins the hood joints the rear lift-gate joints are rusting, and the pinpoint rust spots all over the car "rail dust" is unbelievable, I clay the car every spring because its so bad, and with our other cars like I noted before don't have as much rust being OLDER cars. Also the inside rear seats refuse to slide like the did when the car was new, which is a cool thing but not a needed amenity. Last thing I care remember is the weather seals around the doors have not lasted the drive and passenger are warn down so much they need to be replaced already but they are not covered under warranty and want, wait for it $300+ for ONE, not both one! One last one, Dodge the Kumho tires you put on the DJ are absolute junk! All in all, The DJ when you look past all its imperfections and hiccups its not so bad. All cars have hiccups some worse than others, and the DJ well maybe worse, the Camaro (98) has had a lot more than the DJ so far, maybe when the DJ is as old as the Camaro it will be caught up or surpassed the problems the Camaro has had, hopefully not. The Astra has been a magnificent car with really cool features at an awesome price with great MPG. If we had to do it all over again, would we get a DJ? well back in 2010 there wasn't much other choices, and we didn't like the huge round rear of the Chevy Traverse, but liked the GMC Terrain although smaller, dunno about that cars problems but that would be our choice. In todays market, Probably the new refreshed GMC Acadia, or the Terrain, hopefully that will get a facelift soon its due for one, and maybe the GMC Granite which supposedly will be headed to production according to GM (Voltec platform?) Well I will try to get pictures up of the gaps and some of the paint problems as I stated and try to get the rust, rust is a hard thing to get pictures of. biohazard
we also have a 2010 sxt that we bought new. The only real issue that we share is the rear bumper popping out, happens all the time. The rust issues we have not experienced nor the paint cracking but we got the black paint so maybe we just dont notice it ?? I do have a few complaints about the interior though, the chrome bezel trim that goes around the shifter always seems to pop out at the corners and needs to be pushed back in once and awhile. We live in canada so im sure the salt issue is the same for me also and agree that the tires are crap !!! Also I have had it back to dealership for multiple interior warentee problems from the AC cluster lights going out to speakers that stop working(yes we have the upgraded system also). The conversation mirror also had to have the gearing replaced so it moves slower as the gears fell into my lap one day, lol... and dont get me started on the BRAKES !!! We will be getting our 2013 DJ this week and from driving one and talking to others they have improved most if not all the issues that previous years have had so we are still going to stay faithful to DJ for now as their price point cant be matched for what you get. Hopefully this new one will exceed our expectations...
burgandy25
I wish the best to you with a new 2013, we would probably be torn between a 2013 DJ as the interior is nicer and the exterior looks a lot more aggressive, but the terrain, and new Acadia are also sharp cars. The rust for us is easy to spot against the gold paint, the rail-dust is the worst. The chrome atop the shifter is what is loose on ours and I always find myself pushing on it with my thumb and feeling it pop out again as I drive, it's a thing I do without thought. Our DJ doesn't have bad brakes yet, knock on wood, we don't have any pulsating or anything, we did get a few 30 point inspection that included the brakes, we should get that done and have them look at the brakes and see if they're warped or not. we don't use our conversation mirror (kiddie mirror) so we are not to worried about that. I am going out for a quick drive today and I will bring the camera along and take the pictures I wanted to take. speaking about the camaros problems guess what car ran like it had water in the gas this morning? Lebowski
Well, at least you had to wait a few years for the rust to appear, mine came with it from the factory.

biohazard
bio,Sorry to hear about the issues you've had with your 2010. I hope your dealer was able to get all your issues resolved. Let us know how you like your '13 once you drive it a bit. All of our issues were taken care of under warentee and was one of the main reasons why we upgraded to a new journey .... Even the brakes were covered under our warentee as they must have had a bad run or something and sent us a letter saying they would replace our first set.
