biohazard
Anyone know the reason why our 2010 DJ has a towing capacity of 3500 LBS with the tow prep package and our new 2013 has been downgraded to 2500 LBS. I understand that those weights are based on 1 to 2 passengers but why 1000 LBS difference ?? we tow a camper that will be now maxing out our 2013 even though its got a bigger motor(3.6) with more torque. We also run a brake controller so braking wont be an issue but did they revamp thier transmissions and thats the new weak spot ??
Official Dodge Support DodgeCACares Posted March 8, 2013 Official Dodge Support Report Share Posted March 8, 2013 bio, As advised via PM, the word from my tech guys is that the towing capacities were reduced for cooling purposes to avoid any potential issues. The engineers dictate the towing rating of a vehicle which is based on suspension\brake, drivetrain and cooling components. This decision was not to complicate things but to protect the consumer from any unwanted stress. Hope that clears things up for everyone regarding this topic.
