TPMS Replacement.

Hi All.

I have a 2009 Journey SXT,this week i had two new Tyres and one of the TPMS valves had corroded and just fell apart,i phoned the Dealer and was quoted over £200!! for a replacement part fitted, the actual part costs only £63.00,he said that it had to be done by them as the part needed to be "Diagnostically matched to the Vehicle"does anyone know if this is true?,i have searched the net and there has been mention of the vehicle automatically picking up the signal if you drive at a certain speed for a period of time, but this has generally applied to wheel after re-inflation.

I have a frien who is a Tyre fitter and he could fit it for me but i need to know if it will work, and taht damn warning light is getting on my nerves.

Maybe i should just take the bulb out?,anyway, does anybody know if an off the shelf original part will match itself to the vehicle after fitment?.

Many thanks.

Dave.

Until you get the chance to replace the sensor just cover the warning light with a small piece of black electrical tape. That is what I do when I change over to my winter tires and rims. No more problem with the distracting light.
