senah
To hook up the powered infinity sub do you still have to run external power wires and rca cables to the back? Or can you tap in to the stock amp under the passenger seat? This Infinity sub-woofer has a 200 watt amp built within it. No extra amp needed. The installer will be putting in a LOC on the head unit for the RCA jacks.Yes, it still needs power from the battery and he will run the wires.(All hidden of course). He's just going to disconnect speaker wires to the OEM sub,and leave in place. This way, all I have to do is hook it back up if I ever sell the car.The other 6 Alpine speakers will continue to run off the OEM amp. senah
Got it installed and wow, what a difference. The new sub-woofer really brings out the entire Alpine system. To bad it didn't come from the factory this way. Nice punch to the bass now. Didn't need LOC. rather just used rear speaker lines for high input. dirceuximenes
Você trocou só o Sub, ou você colocou um Sub amplificado?
Chris1276
Stupid me!! I Went to the dealership to get my cruise control fix! We did 2 roadtrips with cruise not working and i could say the trip could be way better if the cruise control was working... Yeah, stupid me! Not regarding cruise control but regarding my sound system! :-) i show them about my subwoofer at the back being dead! The guy in the front desk came with me and check it! He said the left side barely moving and right side totally dead. So i left my journey the entire day expecting that its fixed at the end of the day! And feeling excited about how my subwoofer will improve. When they call me to pick up my journey the guy told me that theres no sub on the right. Only on the left side! Is that true? I didnt know about it! To make it short my journey stays with them for nothing! Thay cant resolve the issue of cruise control and told me they will go back to me once they know the fix!! Regarding subwoofer they just adjusted bass on the equalizer to full but still so weak! The next time i go back to the dealer i will compare the sound system on the journey on showroom this way i can tell if its normal or not! My nieghbors 2009 hyundai santa fe with factory set up sounds 100x better than my journey! So disappointing!
Mcgusto82
Regarding the single sub question. Yes. There's only one sub in the back. Idk how loud it's supposed to be, but a few people on here have mentioned, that its weak.
Jstmahoney
Stupid question here! I have a 2014 journey limited with the 8.4" screen. How can I tell if I have the upgraded sound system? It doesn't say on the window sticker.
Camper
If your car have 8 or 10 speakers, then it upgraded sound system.
Journeyman425
If your Limited has Sun, Sound and Wheel Group (Sunroof and Chrome Clad wheels), then it automatically comes with the upgraded speakers and 368 watt amp. Lobitz68
There should be some Alpine badges in the cabin as well I believe...
Crossroader
Wow, old topic, with no good solution. I have a 2015 with the exact same wimpy bass, turned up to max, but non-existent. Did anyone ever get any satisfaction? The 8.4N even has the same problematic "Gracenotes" issue that I had on my 2012 Charger! (Cannot pick up the album art from the MP3 file.) dhh3

I have a 2015 with the exact same wimpy bass, turned up to max, but non-existent. Did anyone ever get any satisfaction? The 8.4N even has the same problematic "Gracenotes" issue that I had on my 2012 Charger! (Cannot pick up the album art from the MP3 file.) What mp3 player are you using? I have been dealing with the same issue since June, when I purchased my DJ: some artwork displays, some does not. Even iTunes albums purchased from iTunes will not display art. All of my music is on my iPhone5s. I am able to Jump to the iPhone 6 in February. I spent many hours on the phone with both Apple and Uconnect. Uconnect no longer works with Gracenote. I updated to iOS8 and now my music is screwed - nothing plays right, but the phone works fine. I did learn that once you load a CD with artwork to your iTunes library, the Album artwork file (Gracenote) becomes a proprietary file that belongs to Apple. It will only display on an Apple device. I'm patiently waiting for Uconnect to come out with a fix for iOS8. Until then, I listen to The Spectrum on Sirius. I'm not sure about the Alpine factory speakers, but the Infinity factory systems still use crap paper speakers; even the sub. I do not have the Alpine system. I went to Best But and purchased 2 sets of Alpine speakers for the doors. The sound changed 100%. Kicker makes an amplified Sub that fits under the seat. So, none of my speakers will be paper! I picked the Alpines because they put out the most bass, when compared to the other speakers on the Best Buy speaker wall. I found an Alpine Factory Amp on ebay right after I purchased by DJ. Buy it now $100.00. The tech at Best Buy, who has been doing my vehicles for many years told me to save my $.. He told me that it was junk and if I wanted some more punch to add the above mentioned sub. Even with my new Alpine Speakers, I can get the mirrors to vibrate, depending on what song id playing. So, this satisfies me. The Kicker powered underseat sub lists for around $300, but I haven't been able to find the specs on it yet. When I turn the volume up to 20, it is really loud; impressive for a non-amplified stock HU. Edited November 24, 2014 by dhh3
Crossroader
I've had a little more time with my Journey, and found that by adjusting the 3 band EQ to BASS at MAX, Mid at MIN, and Treble at +2, it forces you to turn up the volume sufficiently for decent bass (not great, or even good, as it is muddy bass, but better than none.) Regarding the GraceNotes thing, if "Music Cleanup" option is ON, you can get some album art from their canned database of only the most popular artists. It will additionally damage the names of less popular artists, changing them to fit names from their database. This actually makes you unable to use Voice Response to select your niche artists. Turn GN off, and you get no artwork whatsoever, but the actual artist names from the MP3. I use a USB stick these days as my "iPod". LAst time around, I did extensive work with the MP3 tags, but could not get album art across. My personal theory is that Dodge did not want it to be possible for you to display custom images on the stereo. Imagine if some enterprising youngster assign pornographic images to their MP3's and <shudder> they displayed on the Dodge screen.

Imagine if some enterprising youngster assign pornographic images to their MP3's and <shudder> they displayed on the Dodge screen. I'm not sure this is true. The intention of Gracenote is to recognize music and automatically assign the correct album art without the user having to do anything. I think Dodge thought the technology was innovative and thought it would sell cars. But. . . hindsight is 20/20. There are problems with using Gracenote because it is like any other file; it needs updates and there are always compatibility issues. Because of these, Gracenote sux IMHO. I leave it off. Peace.
