i have a 2012 avp model. i love the car. i have had this problem since i bought it new. i dont have the havc controls for the rear passengers . my boy is sweat to death even at 70 degrees. i have the temp turned all the way to cold and the fan no higher then half. that is because i cant hear any higher then that. it will take a good amount of time to get cold in the front. it will finally get so cold that i will want to turn it down.

i cant because my 2 year is sweating. i have had it in for service a week or so after i bought it. it showed that it was good.

my question is . is the air conditioning unit in the dj with the dual climate controls the same as the one in the single one? if the dealership cant do anything i think i am going to be trading it in. i have a new born due in july and i cant have that.

please help

The back seats are no warmer than the fronts in any of the DJs I've been in. The rear seat vents deliver air at the same temperature as the fronts if you don't have dual air.

And your dealer can't add in the rear controls to your vehicle, so if the solution is any different than either removing a couple of layers of clothing from the child or opening the windows it will involve replacing the vehicle.

Have you thought about getting your windows tinted. The AVP model is tintless from the factory. That'll help a lot with the sun.

Another thing you can do is get window vent visors. Theres clear and smoked color. I bought a set of 4 for around 50$ online. Easy to install, and your son can crack his window with little disturbance to the rest of you.

Trading in a year old car is going to hit your wallet like a sledge hammer.

No real solution I can think of here other than to try having the air blow out through the defrost vents with the recirculation button activated. That may blow the cool air over your head and to the back more so you will not be so cool that you cannot turn the fan on high. It still may not be enough though, as it sounds like dual zone cooling is what you really need.
