Voice Command Button Does Nothing

Hi There, I have a 2012 Dodge Journey with the small touchscreen. What I am finding is that the voice command button on the steering wheel does absolutely nothing except always say "Press the phone button to make a call". It seems it doesn't start the voice command at all when the button is pressed. Is there something I need to setup to make this work?

Note that I have this issue whether there is a phone connected via bluetooth or not. I also have 3 phones (Samsung Galaxy S3, Iphone 4s, Blackberry Q10) and is the same no matter which is connected.

No, with the 4.3" screen it works this way. With the phone button you can use voice commands though (limited to the phone). According to the manual, the voice button only works when you want to dictate a number during a call or to make another call, though in my limited testing it doesn't seem to work.

The voice command button works with the 8.4 radio.

The 4.3 doesn't do voice command features.

@Mcgusto82, actually the 4.3 has voice commands, but only for the phone and are triggered by the phone button instead of the VR button.

Yeah. That's what I meant. That's phone voice activation.

I'm referring to the other button. That one doesn't do anything I the 4.3.

When I upgraded to the 8.4, I realized that.

I have a similar problem. Voice Recognition does not respond. Cant use voice prompts to make calls. If the unit was not factory fitted, possibly there is no microphone in the rear view mirror or a stand alone mic.
