shawna1017
I have many many engine troubles with mine and engineering is now considering replacing the whole engine (7500km). the lifter has been replaced twice and rockers have been rplaced twice due to ticking noise. It definately is the rocker or lifter but they cannot fix it. also had tippum modlue replace after car stalled on me a few times. Also when driving at approx 20km i get a "clink" sound. Dealership says they cant believe my journey is in all the time. also i have the clunk when putting into reverse and the left turn honk/growl... has anyone else had these problems? and have they been fixed? Sam
For the honk/growl: We developed the following interim service fix so take vehicle to a Dodge / Chrysler / Jeep dealer and ask them to refer to STAR Online case #K10403532. TSB will be issued in September. If this fails to correct the problem. Please re post. I want to fix your vehicle. Case Number K10403532 Vehicle Issue Owner complains of a honk, groan or similar noise while turning. May occur during right or left hand turns but seems to be more prevalent while making left hand turns. System or Component Noise,Groan,Honk;Customer Concern (No DTCs);Group 19 - Steering;Turn / Turning;Yes - Intermittent,Yes - Continuously Recommendation If this occurs, before replacing steering system components please perform the following Engrg-recommended steps (updated 7/28/08): 1) Fill steering reservoir to MAX line plus 4mm. 2) Using Mitivac hand pump apply 20-25 in-Hg vacuum and leave for 3 minutes (engine off). 3) Release vacuum pump. 4) Start vehicle and perform 5 lock to lock turns (NOTE: Do not hold the steering wheel at the stops). 5) If fluid level drops below 4mm above MAX, repeat steps 1-4. 6) Test drive vehicle performing hard left turns while accelerating and decelerating to ensure vehicle does not exhibit honk. 7) If vehicle still exhibits left turn honk noise, repeat Steps 1-7. (NOTE: If there is a large amount of air ingested into the steering system, this Procedure may take up to 6 hours to complete).

I really dont think they will be able to fix the ticking noise...

I really dont think they will be able to fix the ticking noise... I also have a ticking sound and noticed it a few weeks after we bought it in May. It only seems to make the noise when I need to accelerate, like going up a hill. I have almost 9,000 miles on my Journey. Please let me know if you get this resolved as I would like to get my looked at.

Hello I actually did have the problem resolved after 6 months of dealing with it, turns out the intake motor was bad causing ticking. It was definately louder when RPMs were higher but even at idle the noise was there. But ticking could be a few different things depends where it is coming from?... If it is on the passanger side higher up it could be lifter noise (as i have heard of a few journeys having lifters replaced). If the noise is more like a card in a bike tire it could be the fly wheel missing bolts. If the noise is constatly there on the passanger side, even at idle could be lifter or the intake motor. My journey has been great since the intake motor was replaced but it was a long "Journey" to find the problem I have learned alot about this vehicle since i bought mine in June... especially where the ticking noises CAN come from and the characterstics of them. I know more about the journey than any other vehicle i have ever had If you have any questions i will be happy to help... it can be so frusterating dealing with this

The ticking sound I hear seems to be on the driver side. I don't hear it when the car is idle or even at speed. I usually hear it when it feels like I'm inbetween gears and I'm going up a hill, like when you need to give it more gas. Then, once I give it gas and it kicks into the next gear it goes away. I'm just want to make sure it's nothing serious. I need to get the oil changed soon so when I make the appointment I'll have them drive it to see if they can duplicate the noise. miller7428
It is getting worse and it sounds to me that it is a really bad grinding noise....I called 2 seperate shops to see the reacyions and opinions that i would get from what i told them and they both looked at the TSB but they both had 2 seperate answers and neither one of them have ever seen an issue in there shops. It started out to be just a light faint grind and now its getting really bad and so i am going to call and get an appointment earlier then monday the 20th.... For all of you that have the HONK/GROWL sound mine has been fixed. I took it into the shop last week and when i got it back it started doing it again but after a day of driving the sound went away. They replaced the reservoir and put a taller one on and they also replaced a pressure switch in the pump also....from what i understand about it is when it would turn left it required more fluid at a higher pressure and the switch that was in there wasnt giving it enough fluid which would produce the grinding sound cause there wasnt enough fluid but it is all fixed now.....
