Biggee72
This is a company vehicle so granted..I drive 4-5k miles a month. I received the vehicle in May and it has 16k on it now. It just went in to the dealer for the following: Steering shakes at highway speeds. Transmission clunks through every gear. Trans clunks when hitting the gas or taking my foot off the gas. There is another clunk in the rear of the vehicle when going over bumps. Luckily we get a new one at 60k, I'm just hoping it makes it that long. I'd honestly never buy anything made by Chrysler. Mcgusto82
Trans clunks when hitting the gas or taking my foot off the gas. Interestingly enough. My 11 caravan has been doing this since they did the tranny recall. Last month, dealer found nothing out the ordinary.. But progressively, it's getting worse. It's somewhat embarrassing when other people riding your car say, "isn't this car supposed to be new?" "Why does it sound like that?" "Should've gotten an import". Lol. Hopefully, as it gets worse, dealer can finally do something about it. Anyways, try to stay positive, you're still a year away from 80k
Addicted to Dodge
So let me get this straight, you come on here to bash Chrysler, but you don't actually own one? If you have read anything on here, then you would know that there are lots of people that enjoy their Journey (myself included). Its great you have an opinion, everyone should. But why come here to express it in such a negative way? Could it be we have a troll amongst us?
doubleO7
Addicted to Dodge And there are some of us, that have had some minor problems, but despite that we still love our Journeys. I don't think there is a vehicle out there that is perfect, but I agree with you, I would never go onto a forum and bash the members choice of vehicle. I would just state my problem, and ask if anybody else has had the same problem and what have they done to get it corrected.

I never said that the Journey was a perfect vehicle or that they haven't had their share of problems. As you stated, the forum is to help people with problems and get a chance to communicate with other people who share the same choice of vehicle. He stated "he would never buy a Chrysler product" on a forum where most everyone owns a Chrysler product. He is disrespectful and obviously someone looking for trouble. Journeyman425
Steering shakes at highway speeds. Transmission clunks through every gear. Trans clunks when hitting the gas or taking my foot off the gas. There is another clunk in the rear of the vehicle when going over bumps. I'd honestly never buy anything made by Chrysler. Steering shaking at highway speeds is most likely due to a wheel/tire out of balance. This condition happens on all vehicles from time to time, regardless of the make. The transmission issues are most likely due to its control software which can be updated by your dealer to improve its performance. The clunk in the rear is not a common complaint and I'd be interested to know what its cause is. I own three Chrysler products. None of them have ever left me on the side of the road, ever - including my 13 year old, 285,000 mile 300M which runs perfectly to this day. Have faith. Appalachian Journey
I don't think it an unreasonable conclusion and welcome the dissent. Though unlikely, perhaps someone at Chrysler reads this forum and negative comments contribute to any effort in improving the product. Biggee72
If you consider me a troll because I'm stating a problem with my vehicle and it's relevant forum, that's a problem. If it upsets you that much to hear the Journey isn't a perfect vehicle, that's a bigger problem. The section I posted in is owner's impressions. Ok, I may not be an "owner" but it's my only vehicle and I drive more than 90% of the world I'm sure. Regardless of who is paying for it shouldn't make a difference. So, with that said. It says owners impressions. It doesn't say positive impressions. It just says impressions. These were my impressions. It doesn't make me wrong. I almost started to miss automotive forums for a minute. Thank you for showing me again why this was a waste of my time. Lebowski
redtomatoman
I almost started to miss automotive forums for a minute. Thank you for showing me again why this was a waste of my time. The culture here is one where helpful folks help to solve problems and give advice. Not all journeys have the same problems. If you need some help, you'll be able to find it here. If you don't, well I guess it would be a waste of time. All car manufacturers have service departments, and they are all full of problems being addressed. Your original message implied that journeys have more problems. They do not. Good luck to you. Peace. Rgwog
brian060901
I'm sure this is the wrong place but hopefully I can get some input. I have a 09 Journey with 85k miles on it. It was made 3 months after the recall on the door wiring harness, so despite being an 09 it does not qualify. I have had the door worked on 6 times. Each time it's the exact same problem. The drivers door can open the back windows but nothing else works. The front passengers door control works perfect including the ability to lock and unlock the drivers door. Repairs, first time the dealer had me hold the drivers window control up for 5 sec. It worked for months. 2nd time they "reprogramed the unit." 3rd time a controller box was replaced. 4th time it fixed it's self magically after a few days. Last time an independent mechanic disconnected the battery for 5 min and again fixed. This time same exact symptoms, but now I'm told it's a bad harness and because of 85k miles not covered under warranty. Despite prior attempts. 580 dollars for the harness and ? 1.5 hrs work to change. I have a second dealership say it can not be the harness because the side airbag lights do not come on. 1) since the airbag light never comes on can it still be the harness. 2) after market harness, I've heard they can be better. 3) Both the mechanic at the dealership (great guy) and the Chrysler warranty "lady" implied that this is a "known problem". That they have had a lot of complaints and are dealing with them on an individual basis rather than extend the recall... Suggestions? Any help appreciated Brian P.S. Also having problems with brakes not lasting, I have resigned myself to just freg. brake jobs. I'm not bashing Dodge just disappointed. My first car was a 1954 Dodge Coronet purchased new by my father. Pink none the less.
jkeaton
As far as the brakes are concerned, the 09's had horrible brakes. We had rotors/pads on our 09 replaced twice before 20k. The last time they warped I purchased some quality aftermarket rotors and pads and installed them myself. Did not have a single brake problem for 60,000 more miles. If you keep replacing factory junk with factory junk, expect frequent brake jobs. We did not have an airbag light on when our window switches stopped working. The recall fixed our issues. I am not aware of any aftermarket harnesses and honestly never found out exactly what the problem with the harness was. $580 for a wiring harness seems incredibly steep to me. Maybe find out the part number and search for it on the internet? And to the OP, bashing an entire car line because of your experience with one model is not justified. Every manufacturer has their share of models with problems. I'm on another forum for Dodge Dakota's and we have a favorite saying that some of those trucks are Monday trucks and some are Friday trucks. Every now and then there is a true lemon that rolls off the assembly line. Sorry for your problems and wish you luck in getting your problems resolved. If you are seeking advise on any of your issues, just ask. We loved our 09 SE so much, we just bought another one.

The wiring harness could still be the issue even though the airbag light is not illuminated. If the harness is broken in a circuit which only governs the windows, the airbag light will not illuminate as there is still continuity in the SRS (supplemental restraint system). Would you like me to confirm that your vehicle is outside the paramaters for the recall? I need the last eight digits of your VIN to do that. I would contact Chrysler Customer Care 1-800-992-1997 and inquire about assistance for the cost of repairs if you are in fact outside the build dates for the recall. Have your repair records ready when you call so that you have factual information to provide them.
