StormGrayBlackTop13
New to the community but not new to Chrysler products. Big fan of the company, their brands, history and future. First brand new car purchase and really excited my new Journey.

Journeyman425
Welcome and congratulations - helluva nice car you have there! Is that a Starion lurking in your garage?
StormGrayBlackTop13
Thanks all Journeyman425 Nice eagle eye on the car in the garage, I didn't notice the car in the shot until I posted the pics of my Journey, glad to see some aware car people out there. It is actually a 1989 Chrysler Conquest TSI (aka, Mitsubishi Starion) with the Sport Handling Package. It is my summer car and have had it since 1993. Journeyman425
Wow. The Conquest is even more rare than the Starion - especially these days. I remember the Starion selling pretty well around the Westchester, NY area where I grew up. There were far fewer Conquests around, and it was hard to tell the difference until you got close enough to notice the badging. Couldn't quite make it out in your photo but thought it might have been the tri-diamond badge. Very cool car and high performance for the day
StormGrayBlackTop13
Yes, these cars are rare, Starions & Conquests nowadays, but the Conquests always out numbered the Starions in the USA, worldwide it is probably a different story & many more worldwide were supplied than in the USA. Official production numbers from NHTSA..(http://www.nhtsa.gov/cars/rules/theft/theft.cfm). They were made from 1983-1989 (1989 MITSUBISHI STARION -->159, 1989 CHRYSLER CONQUEST --> 4953) Conquest figures outnumber Starion figures because Chrysler dealerships outnumber Mitsubishi dealerships. There were no Mitsubishi dealerships in the U.S. before 1982. The first dealerships were started on east and west coasts and large cities in the middle, like Chicago. So in your area you may have seen more Mistus The main difference between the cars in the small narrow black grill above the front bumper and the different taillights on the Starion. Badging, of course, were different between the two to fit the respective models. I do like the copper pearl on your Journey, it looks sharp. Journeyman425
I never realized that the Conquest was the bigger seller. In the Westchester area, especially in the early/mid 1980's, imported cars were selling like crazy. People would tend to choose the Mitsu over the Chrysler just because of the "import" perception even though they were the same. It was a sign of the day... Ironically, I have been working for a Chrysler dealership in a small town for nearly ten years and there are simply none of these cars in our area. I'm curious to see just how many we actually sold back in the day. Interestingly, the Journey is not a huge seller around here either. My town loves Grand Cherokees. I have the only Copper Pearl Journey in town. Thanks for the compliment on the color!

rolly
I mean where I live, rolly - not here on the boards if that's what you're questioning! Hey Journeyman, There was a spam entry that was erased just after your comment that was written in a foreign language that I was questioning. They must have erased before you saw it.
