Help... Headlights not working

Recommended Posts

I have a 2010 Dodge Journey with approximately 60,000 miles. I have been experiencing a problem with my headlights. First the headlights wont turn on at night when the switch is turned to AUTO. If I turn the switch to on, the headlights will only work sometimes. If I hit the brights the headlights will flash on but turn back off. This is wierd because it only does this occasionally. The bulbs are fine and im puzzled as to what would be causing this. I was told it might be the switch itself or it might be some kind of module. Has anyone experienced this issue. If you have any information it would be appreciated. I hate driving this car at night because I never know if the headlights are going to turn off or work for that matter.

had a similer problem with my 2001 dodge truck lights they would work on high beam but not on low bulbs okay ended up being the light switch something to do with the built in dimmer switch. found this out on google bought a new switch thur advance auto for $30. took 20 min to change out.. maybee somthing like that is your problem. 2001 to later dodges had this same problem along with the dash board tops cracking. try googling your problem with yr and vech. name for possible problems. good luck

Based on your description, the multifunction switch is the most likely cause of your problem. However, it would be a good idea to have this problem diagnosed by a dealer or someone knowledgable in the operation of this system or has diagnostic code-reading capability. There are several modules which interface with the headlamp switch and the sun sensor on the dash which make the headlamp system operational.
