I notice every single morning my dodge journey has huge water puddles only under 1 exhaust I cant seem to understand why? I have a family member that has a journey thats parked next to me in the garage and I checked underneath it and its dry as a bone any ideas? jkeaton Posted November 24, 2013 Report Share Posted November 24, 2013 Mine (and some others) does the same thing. Apparently it is the condensate drain from the rear AC system. It must dump on top of the muffler and give the appearance that it is the muffler itself dripping water. Nothing to worry about, other than the mess it leaves. larryl Posted November 24, 2013 Report Share Posted November 24, 2013 Its from the exhaust mine does it every day I do not have rear heat/ac If you look the muffler(s) have tiny holes in them and thats where its from. From what I've read, the AC compressor cycles on and off as needed to keep moisture levels down in the cabin. Even if the AC is off, the compressor will still come on and off as needed. bigtsr Posted November 25, 2013 Report Share Posted November 25, 2013 I was of the opinion that the AC compressor only activates when you have the AC or DEFROST cycle selected although DJs with auto climate would do it with regards to previous settings I suppose. bigtsr Posted November 26, 2013 Report Share Posted November 26, 2013 Crawl under the back and check for muffler drain on the side you are getting water from then measure to that point on the non draining side - could be plugged with mud,rustproofing or undercoat - clean out and test.
