Every December when it's cold!!!

Hi

I'm after some help please. Every December since i have had my dodge journey (2009) it fails to start randomly. It happened twice last December and this is the second time this month. For no reason it fails to start them a few hours later it works! No idea why!

I put into the dealer and they have no idea either. Coincidently it's usually the day after I have put fuel in.

Any idea?

Thanks

Sarah

Cold December? Check. Won't start? Check.

The exact same thing happens to me with my 2009 Journey RT. Last year on December 21, 2012, the lights, radio, windows, etc all worked fine but the vehicle just wouldn't start. I paid $125 to have it towed to the local '5-star' dealer (becuase I was out of town and stranded) who managed to talk me into repairing some computer module for $600. The failure to start happened twice after that last winter.

This morning (December 23, 2013) I started the vehicle fine and got to the local coffee shop five minutes away from home. I turned the vehicle off to go in and get a coffee. When I came out, the vehicle would not start. Like, nothing. Again, lights, windows, radio, interior everything works fine except to start the vehicle. This time though, all the interior lights are flickering and coming off and on in rapid fashion, sort of like a strobe light. I tried to restart it a few hours later (which seemed to work in the past) but the issue still persists.

My only hope now is that the dealer is going to honor their previously issued 'worked-on guarantee' and fix it again.

  • 3 weeks later...

I also agree with P-R-N-D-N-R-P process it works all the time. It is just the transmition not being in gear properly.

The computer wont let you start unless you are in park or neutral and unfortunately it seem to happens to quite a few with the 6 speed trans.
