bommar81 Posted December 1, 2019 Report Share Posted December 1, 2019 To all, Thanks for inviting me to this forum, I was looking for cause, concern of this exact situation occurring with my 2009 AWD Journey. I have a couple of questions, First, with these lights being on, will the car be ok to drive until I get the sensor fixed? Second, I just dropped about 300.00 for front, rear pads and rotors, if my concern is a rear wheel sensor how much do they run and an anyone tell me where it is located and how difficult the repair would be.. 2late4u Posted December 1, 2019 Report Share Posted December 1, 2019 i would assume you used google to find us and you can find a you tube video as well on how to replace a wheel sensor as well ,no its not hard to change one out but you will have to know which one is the bad one, have never changed one myself but had one go bad and let the dealership change it since they were going to do some other work as well they charged me $60 part and labor.... sensors run any where from $20-60 depending front or rear and who you buy them from and the quality of them. it could also be a bad wheel bearing as well instead of the senor.since you just had your brakes done maybe they messed one of the senors up in the process might want to have them recheck their work. the only safety concern of not fixing it right away is the anti skid on your brakes will not work but your brakes will continual as they have been with no problem and also your cruise control wont work due to the abs light on ,if you havent noticed yet.as i said before GOGGLE be thy friend Armando G and jkeaton 2 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Kubiackalpha Posted March 2 Report Share Posted March 2 My GF has a 2016 journey crossroad, 4cyl, FWD. These Fiat Freemonts have tons of issues, I am finding out. A constant issue with the AC/Heater blower (it is not the fan going bad) has to have the relay constantly reset. If a tire is slightly low, you go into a "limp home mode" and makes you think there is a bigger issue than just a few pounds of air. NOW, the traction control has been coming on randomly. While driving. It does not shut off unless you turn the entire car off. THEN, it may come on again while driving. NOT a great thing to happen if driving in Tulsa, Ok. I have a scan tool and will be getting at that in the morning. What are some things for the 2016 I can look for? My scantool gives me a pretty good break down of likely to least likely. With the circuitry and many modules to control functions, you really need to have a good scanner that can also read body control module{not just basic OBD} functions and codes They used to be a bit expensive a few YEARS ago, but are now pretty reasonable in cost. Knowing what CODES are at issue is 90% of the battle. I've found that poor wire connections and poor grounds are the true culprit to many problems, BUT trouble codes being retrieved and diagnosed shorten the figuring out process dramatically. With what you have posted, any responses for "look at's" or fixes is just GUESSING, YES TCS warning MAY be a bad sensor but it could also be a hub bearing going bad as part of the wheel sensor components{tone ring} are part of the bearing assembly. larryl and 2late4u 2 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

No, because I worked on her car previously when a low tire pressure light came on. I did not want any issues with a tire blowing out on a simple test drive after fixing the issue so I filled the tires up to spec. Sure enough, the problem stopped until the next cold snap and it sent the tire pressure just slightly below spec (3-4lbs). Topped them off and had the tires checked for leaks. No issues. My scan tool (A mid level tool purchased last year) says that it can only be the camshaft positioning sensor. The reason I asked for other options (glad you pointed out the wiring might be the issue) is exactly that. A wiring issue, or (as with her AC) a switch in the fuse box could be going bad which makes it read the sensor is bad. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
5rebel9 Posted March 3 Report Share Posted March 3 For the benefit of you and others seeking advice/help in correcting a warning light{CEL/TCS/STAB. CONTROL/ etc.} it is necessary to post the actual codes and NOT description of code{s} IF they have them. Most major parts stores will check most system codes for free if a scanner is not available to the person involved with the vehicle. There ARE diagnostic steps for each and every code beyond just throwing in a replacement senor or part. For responders to be able to give good assistance , they need the actual code number so these steps can be suggested. Please also remember the vast majority of members here are vehicle owners and not automotive technicians, some of us do however have that type of background, So the better the background info posted of a problem will get better responses. Even though I purchased the Camshaft Position Sensor, it is good to note that these could also be at fault.
