Powerguy37
Does anyone know if the cylinder head for this repair is still on backorder? I took mine 2011 Journey into the dealer in August of 2013 for this repair. I was told the part was on national backorder. I never heard from them again. I called today and they could not give me an answer and said they would call me back in a day or so. Anyone else have to wait this long for the same reapair? Powerguy37
Well no call back today so I will be contacting them in the morning. Hoping for some good news. I just really want to get this fixed.
bigtsr
I realize this is easy for me to say but "FIND ANOTHER DEALER" Having said that I know geography and locale sometimes make this a chore but my first instinct is that the dealer you have now is either lazy or just doesn't care. Journey_SeXT
Wow that is a real long time to wait for a part to come in. Hope you can get this resolved real soon and update us with the outcome. BTW welcome to the forum!
Journeyman425
The cylinder head is not on backorder at this time. Part #RL141353AC. Yes, it is a big job and scheduling can be difficult, but this repair is important and is owed to you. If they won't accomodate you in a timely fashion, try to find another dealer who will. Powerguy37
Thanks for all the responses. I had a feeling they forgot about me. If it wasn't already written up as a warranty repair, I would go to another dealer.
Powerguy37
Just got off the phone with them, they have the part sitting on the shelf and don't know what happened for the last 7 months. He didn't call me back because he wrote my information down wrong... Not much of a service department. Service is scheduled for Monday. Journeyman425
Glad to hear that resolution is in sight. Plan on two days down time - it takes several hours to change the head.
DJMoli
Hello, And Help! I am active duty Military stationed in Madrid Spain for 3 years. I bought 2012 DJ Crew for my family of 6. It threw code P0302 as reported by the Dodge Dealer here in Madrid this month. Yes there is a dealer here. The car is not really running rough, but I needed an oil change anyway so took it in. They want to replace the heads on #2 cylinder. Seems like that is the fix from what I have learned here. But- Because the Car is Europe- Dodge does not want to honor the factory warranty and neither will Dodge Europe. I have the extended 5 yr-100K mile powertrain warrantee so here is the kicker... Can I just wait till I get home next JUL to have it fixed? I have spent over an hour on phone with Dodge Customer agents in U.S. and EU trying to get answers but they will not tell me either: 1. now that it thru the code in Mar of 2014 at 34K miles and no one will cover the warrantee (verified by Dodge here)- can I drive it for another 14 months, wait to fix until I return to the U.S. and not void the warrantee? 2. what do I risk by driving it in this condition? 3. Are there options short of changing the heads? Once I saw the quote here, I immediately called my Dodge Dealer in MD. The Service manager told me this was a known problem with my year/engine and therefore I needed to get advice from "corporate" Seems everyone is avoiding the situation and the best I got from "Mimi" at Customer service is: "What ever you decide sir is your decision". Gee thanks. Oh by the way- the fix here is of $5K U.S. to change the heads. All advice would be greatly appreciated.
Journeyman425
You can wait to have it fixed unless the light begins flashing. I have not seen P0302 in the 3.6 cause the light to flash yet. All of the cylinder heads we have replaced have compression leakage of 30% or less which so far has not caused a bad enough misfire to even be detected by most drivers. Some have complained of occasionally rough idle prior to repair. If the condition worsens to the point where the light begins to flash, then it will cause catalyst damage which may not be covered by warranty. Your vehicle warranty cannot be voided by not repairing this issue immediately. Also, there is no need to change both heads - only the left side head for cylinders 2,4 and 6. There really are no other repair options. Simply performing a valve job would only be a temporary fix. The root cause is insufficient cooling of the exhaust valves on the left side head. If you only replace the valves and not the head, the problem will return as the root cause has not been addressed. The complete head must be replaced. Thank you for your service to our country!
