Journey_SeXT
i have a 2011 journey does anyone know of the brake upgrade what has been done on the 2013 journey? and can these parts fit my 2011, my front rotors are warped and are not warranted. any advice would be great Paul You will need a minimum of 17" wheels in order to do the upgrade to the bigger brake package. You can read Frogbox's step by step how to and see the difference in brake size of the calipers and rotors......http://www.dodgejourneyforum.com/topic/4974-successful-big-brake-upgrade-on-2011-crew/ Edited April 5, 2014 by Journey_SeXT

kritter
Just interested, how many have actually put the larger brakes on your Journeys? If multiple people have done this successfully, it makes it an easier decision.
2late4u
well not alot i assume. if you can do it yourself it will still be quite expensive to do. just redoing front pads and rotors with quality parts will cost about $150 to $170 at least but will prob last a lot longer than the oem dealer parts. when the dealer did my fronts on a good will gesture i had 28 k and i have 65k on the same pads and rotors and still running good. when it comes time i will do my own with aftermarket pads and rotors. p.s. just changed out my rear pads and they could have gone abother 10-15k i guess but the pads were on sale and it was good weather..... Journey_SeXT
I would do the upgrade but I invested in the 16" snow tires so it would be too expensive to upgrade to the 17's plus all the money for the brakes. Anyhow, I have no problems doing my own brake work if they wear out so I always keep my eyes peeled for any specials on rotors and pads before they are due for replacement. kritter
The Centric rotors with painted hub and fins look really nice. I was thinking of upgrading to these when I do my fronts, as well as installing some caliper covers. I know its just for vanity, but these stock rotors/calipers look really bad with the 19" rims. I would assume the Centric premiums would be better than the OEM anyway.
Journey_SeXT
I've read reviews on a few sites regarding Centric brake rotors and most users find them to be an excellent rotor for performance and price.
journeyfamily
i took a look at my wheels today and i see i have th e17 inch wheels, but there is not much clearence between the wheel and the caliper
Journey_SeXT
The 17" wheels will fit as I have asked this question in the past on this forum and got confirmation from a Mopar Tech....post #50 on this thread deals with the 17" rim clearance. http://www.dodgejourneyforum.com/topic/2483-big-brake-kit-to-repace-crappy-oe-brakes/page-3 Edited April 8, 2014 by Journey_SeXT
journeyfamily
yes im aware of that, all i was saying that when i look at mine there is not much clearence for a bigger caliber
Lobitz68
I would really consider scrapping the upgrade and just purchasing nicer components for you current setup. Doing the entire swap is going to cost as much as probably 2 brake jobs using replacement parts of a higher quality. I understand that the brakes are a little too small for the Journey, but a higher quality rotor and pad will easily make up for that at a fraction of the cost. Regardless of what you decide, please report back with your impressions... Good luck! Journey_SeXT
Destination
you can spend a lot of money on upgraded pads and rotors. I just dropped $710 (shipped) on EBC slotted and dimpled rotors with Green Stuff pads for all four axles for my '11 Crew. So far so good, I like the way they look and perform. Michael Maringola
Can't wait to do this upgrade. Just got the blacktop 19" rims and the brakes look so small. Plus the bigger caliper is a dual piston caliber must be much better.

Destination
I have about a thousand miles on my EBC dimpled and slotted rotors with green stuff pads (all four axles), and so far so good. Only issue is under hard braking the dimples and slots make a funny sound. Not really a big deal though.
