Ed11729
The Power Transfer Unit on my AWD Journey seized up from a seal failure and I had to have the Journey flatbedded to my dealer shop on May 26th because it was undriveable. Bought an "Added Care Plus " contract when I purchaed the vehicle. The dealer quoted me a $2600 price including labor if I did not have the contract, This is one case when buying those service contracts pays off in the long run. Had additional maintenance work done while the vehicle was there. Driving the vehicle home was like driving a new car. Mileage on the vehicle 61,000. Ed11729
The transfer case failure also caused that strange odor that was entering the vehicle through the ventiltion system. See my post a few weeks ago.

Extended warranties are always worth looking into, it's impossible to predict what may or may not happen. Modern vehicles are just jammed packed with expensive electronics these days. WayneF1
Since the 2009 Journey has a lifetime powertrain warranty , why would an extended warranty be good? dhh3
jkeaton
He might be in Canada. I think warranties are different there. dhh3
OhareFred
The 09 lifetime warranty also only applies to the original owner. I have an 09 and still purchased a lifetime extended warranty just because of all the electronics...... dhh3

weasey31
What about the supplement Warranty? I wanna know more about it. Does it give the second owner additional coverage?
jkeaton
By supplemental, I mean it's a separate book in the glove box. It describes the warranty and how it works.
OhareFred
If you are talking about the lifetime powertrain warranty the 09's have it is only good for the original owner. 2late4u
