Removed rear resonators

Recommended Posts

We'll I finally broke down and removed those. Unsightly resonators in the

The rear. Removed them and added 3.75 tips. I was a little concerned that I would get the high pitched whined at open throllle. But the sound is more like a v8. If you have been putting off this mod on your Journey wait no longer it sounds awesome.

Why would that void your warranty? 80% of the chargers & challengers do this right off the lot! Plus they would have to prove that the missing mufflers caused the problem. I had straight thru mufflers on back there it sounded awesome! But when I put my hitch on I had to go back to stock. For now! I loved how the exhaust sounded! Best V6 exhaust sound I've heard! Had the Mustang guys turning their heads and smiling! You haveto do some qquality sound clips & pics!

My Journey is a 2013 sxt. I don't believe that this should void the warranty because neither the actual mufflers or cat. Converter are being tampered with. All the resonators do is limit noise. They have nothing to do emissions. The 3.5 I was referring to is the outside diameter of the tips. This size fills out the rear cut outs very well. I'll tries to post pics as soon as possible.

I have done exhaust systems & intakes to every practically new vehicle I've ever owned never ever had any dealership issues. I think the rears are more mufflers and the one under by the driveshaft is the resonator. I had a 2012 Avenger 3.6 with the Magnaflow catback plus I removed the resonator on it, it sounded awesome as well. But my 2013 Dodge journey 3.6 with just the rear mufflers removed with straight thru stainless mufflers sounded alot deeper. But the Magnaflow on the Avenger was more of the "suitcase" style.

Wow really? Have you heard how sexy the 3.6 sounds with a exhaust? Soon as I save up some money I'm getting mine redone again. Had the others all fabbed up cost @ $375 total, but now with a hitch they don't fit! For sale if anyone's interested, all you have to do is clamp or weld on at the T.

Agreed, the 3.6 does sound like a sexy little bitch...

After coming from a 5.7 to a 3.6...its just not the same. Doesn't seem like any point except for noise, or to give the illusion of "toughness" Kinda like putting makeup on Rosanne Arnold....it doesn't do much. To each their own I suppose. Im all for changing things up and customizing, but on this vehicle i'd leave it at appearance only. Any HP gains are going to be marginal at best unless you sink some big coin in the motor, in which case I'd just buy an SRT8 Cherokee.

It's a cheap great sounding mod, who cares if it only makes a few horsepower. The 5.7 doesn't make much power off a exhaust either. Biggest boost for a full exhaust is for turbo'd cars. And saying you'd buy a srt8 makes me ask why did you buy a journey then? Srt8's are like another $50k!

Just sayin instead of sinking big money into a DJ, the cost to benefit just isn't there. By the time you'd spent enough, you may as well have bought and SRT8. That was my point. Its just an opinion, that's all.

I had a Hemi with a Magnaflow dual exhaust on it.... Had a 4.7 with one too. Both sounded great. You'd be surprised how good these 3.6's sound though. It isn't that far off...

Cant we all just get along?!?!???!!.......... I have a dual exhaust Magnaflow on my 2010 SXT AWD and I notice a difference and it has good sound. Its not loud. I didnt want it loud cause I didnt want to TRY to make it sound like a V8 and not come close. Mine fit just fine with my hitch.

However I still dont like the power output of my 3.5....... it sucks. I know that the 3.6 in the 2013 and up are much better.......I drove one. But Im not gonna trade mine or sell mine yet. Im waiting for the new SRT Journeys coming in 2016 or 2017. I bought mine used in 2013 and at that time I didnt know that the 2013 had a much better motor but thats my fault for not doing more research. Live and learn.

No one is talking to you!! :)

Kidding... The 3.6 (though not captured well on youtube) sounds pretty close to a V8. Obviously it's not, but I'm amazed how good some of these 6 cylinder engines sound these days. I've always been partial to the dodge and ford sound though.

There are definitely some improvements in throttle response and torque, even with today's computer controlled engines. I think what he isn't getting at is that you aren't getting the full benefit. That being said, it sure is fun!

so in the end .... chop those big ugly bread boxes off the back of the Journey ... weld some pipes on .... nice tips and I'll finally have a Journey with a nice rumble to it ? ....... sounds easy enough.

The K&N air filter has already given it a bit of a deeper growl when idling and such, so something more will just make it perfect.
