Nothing but problems with Uconnect/Nav/Bluetooth system

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone, So recently we now have about 74,000km on our 2012 Journey RT AWD and everything has been great with it until last week when the bluetooth/phone screen was having issues. If you go to the touch screen and try to use the phone it says *please wait while initializing* but it never actually does. You can not cancel, dial, or do anything with the phone.

If I push any command buttons it will do nothing.

Also the navigation does not work correctly as well, it will show me the turns etc but will not voice them.

I have disconnected the battery and let it sit for a little bit and then connect again, after doing so everything works for a brief period of time and than back to the exact same thing. I have disconnected the battery 4 times doing this hoping it would just keep working but no luck.

Now that im out of warranty the dealer does not even want to try and help me out over the phone, I need to bring it in for them to diagnose it (they are an hour away from me) I also asked to see if they have had any problems like this before etc but they just keep saying they will need to look at it first.

Any help would be amazing!

The are several TSBs that may cover your issues. Where is DodgeCares lately?!? I would PM DodgeCares. That's who can research your issue and direct you towards helpful TSBs. TSBs help your service dept as well. Good luck. Uconnect is cool when it works but buggy.

Peace.

I looked up my vin on mitchell on demand but did not see any tsb's for this issue. I will send dodgecares a message and see if he can help.

Thank you.

I have an opinion with regards to DodgeCares (US) and it's only my

opinion mind you.

Firstly if I am right the position is being held at the moment by

a competent female employee if you follow the progression

in the posts from the beginning of the original posts and

her name appears to be Regina.

I would say she likely does not own a DJ therefore can only

represent what she was shown/instructed to do within the

framework of customer service policy.

I think she inherited the job and is dealing with it as just that

by making an honest effort.

I brought the journey in the dealer and they came back saying that the *telematics module* is not responding when they try to read it etc. So first step is to replace this module. Dodge/Chrysler canada will not cover the part nor will uconnect. The part is $700 before programming and install.

So right now the infotainment is pretty much useless other than music.

GET CARTER,

Sorry to hear your having this issue with your DJ.

Is this an out of warranty situation?

Can you post back with your current kilometers and which dealer you are working with?

2012 Journey that lost Bluetooth capabilities last fall. I assumed that it was my phone but then all phones in the family disconnected and now I see that this is a common problem. How can a simple system like Bluetooth connection die. Surely the UConnect warranty is greater than 2 years. Afraid to even ask the dealer.

Bumper to bumper warranty is 3 years/60,000 km - so yes, longer than 2 years.

And given the cost of the electronic stuff in these vehicles you might want to consider buying an extended warranty FROM CHRYSLER if you plan to keep the vehicle for longer than this. Pricing for these warranties IS negotiable, but quite expensive for us Canuks, even after negotiating.

This is the exact reason I bought the extended warranty. Cheaper the earlier you purchase it. I paid $2500ish usd. I figure I bought all the technology, I might as well keep it working, right?

Peace.

Out of curiosity, why are EWs more expensive in the Great White North?

Everything is more expensive in Canada... A case of beer is like $50!! I have a buddy who moved to MN to go to school and I love going to the bar with him. No matter how high the tab is, he always wants to pick it up because it is so cheap compared to back home. Ha!
