lemonbuyer
Howdy. I have a new (< 300 miles) 2014 Journey SE. In this vehicle, in the driver footwell, to the right of the gas pedal, and just beyond where the center console ends, there is an open socket / hole / whatever. See the attached picture (pic is a bit dark but I think it shows enough). I cut myself when I accidentally stuck a finger in there while reaching down by my foot. Dealer claims this uncovered open space is 'normal'. I tend to think not. Will one or more of you who have a similar 2014 model, or even any recent Journey, look at the same location in your own vehicle and tell me what you see there? Is this socket / hole open as shown in the pic or is it covered with something in your vehicle? Thanks for the help!
webslave
Yep, normal. I've got the same access hole in my '13 R/T. Can't be seen unless you are looking for it. I didn't get right up and look closely at it, but, the way it is cut out and I can see some mechanicals in there, it probably exists for adjusting something...possibly a shifter cable or the PRNDL lockout system. I can understand why they didn't spend money on a "plug" cover for it as you have to get down with your head almost at floor level to see it at all. Journeyman425
I concur as well - my 2013 Crew has the same opening. It appears to be for access like Webslave has indicated. If I come across any more info I'll pass it along.
Lawdog1911
Is it not the plug where they connect for state inspection, code readers, etc...
B4ZINGA
No. OBD-II diagnostic port is at the base of the driver's knee bolster, slightly left of the steering column.
Sparkyssxt
All obd2 ports are on the knee panel below the steering column. They are standardized in plug style AND location for ease of access for testing/diag
dhh3
My 2014 Crossroad has the same opening. I see the same thing, as in your picture. Something is held in there with the visible screw. Just forward of this hole is a round cap, which gives someone access to whatever is screwed in there. The round cap is visible in your picture also. jkeaton
Put some tape over the hole if it concerns you that much. rolly and dhh3
