DTSGUY
My 2010 DJ SXT sometimes wont start. I changed the batteries in both of my key fobs and changed the battery in my Journey. This happens with 2 different key fobs. Most of the time it starts right up but every now and then I put the fob in the hole and turn it and get just a clicking sound. The radio and everything inside turns on. I don't get a message fob not recognized. Has anyone else had this problem? Oh and when this happens I also try to start it using the remote start and most of the time it works but sometimes it doesn't. dhh3
bigtsr
How old is the battery? Could be the gear range selector. Try using neutral when starting. dhh3
DTSGUY
How old is the battery? Could be the gear range selector. Try using neutral when starting. Journeyman425
Transmission range sensors are common to the 2009-10 model year. If, like bigtsr suggests, it starts in neutral, the TRS is a pretty good bet. There is a STAR case that instructs the tech to add a redundant ground between the battery negative and the tranny bell housing: Edited September 5, 2014 by Journeyman425 dhh3
dsny1001
My 2009 Journey SXT does the same thing.. Will start 95 times out of 100... Took to dealer, they kept it for a week, had no clue what it was.. $ 95.00 down the drain... as it is starting now... I tried to start in Neutral, still clunked.. Usually if it sits for over 20 minutes, it will start.. Any suggestions are appreciated.. Thank you, dhh3
bigtsr
I was referring to the car battery not the fob. jkeaton and dhh3
jdcarwile
Have the same issue with my 09, thought it was fixed when the ignition recall was done. did not see the problem for about 6 months, then it happened again last week. jkeaton and dhh3
bramfrank
Could it be a bad starter solenoid? jkeaton
Appalachian Journey
Disconnecting and cleaning all wire connections on the starter cured my 09 2.4l of the clicking/no start issue. I used a small wire brush and a piece sandpaper and brushed on dielectric grease after tightening. Been two, maybe three years. jkeaton
