UConnect Versions by Year

Hi All -

This is (was) my quest to better understand what (if anything) the UConnect Mobile app can do on my 2012 8.4/RE2 System. Turns out so far the answer is really "nothing". My end goal was to simply get the Pandora integration working where you can see your playlists and select your channel from the 8.4 touchscreen. My understanding is that this is done through the "App" screen on the 8.4, which does not exist on the 8.4/RE2.

I had a chat session with UConnect Tech Support, and they said that "...UConnect Mobile services where (are?) only available on select RA3 and RA4 8.4 UConnect systems..."

WHAT??!?!

Why would you develop something like that for a small sub-set of your vehicles. You think that would be universal... Apparently the RA3 and RA4 units are only used in some models (like the Durango). So if I'm understanding correctly, no one with a Journey (even if it's a brand new 2015) has any use for the UConnect Mobile app integration?

Dunno. Doesn't work for my 2011 RB5. Technology. . . Unless you spend a lot of money, the general rule is that you're not getting the latest technology. Then wait a year and the newest version trumps yours anyway. Endless. I'm sure there is some good marketing reason why the technology was not cascaded to all uconnect versions and vehicle models.

Grand Cherokee, Ram Trucks, Durango and 300/Charger/Challenger were the only models that I knew of up to 2014 that had Uconnect Access available. Possibly 2014 Cherokee also but not sure. Haven't been updated yet on 2015 availability. I was disappointed also to find that my Journey would not have it. Would be cool to start the car or unlock it via my iPhone, plus the Pandora feature.
