Leif Polzin
I have a 2014 blacktop SXT with the 8.4 uconnect in it. I have been trying to hook up a external hard drive for music using the USB port. I have a 32 gig flash drive that works good in it but when i tried to hook up the 250gig external drive it would not read it. So i looked up a few things first thing is the file system has to be FAT32 on the drive so i changed that. It still didn't work so now i just deleted the 100 gigs of music i had to chage it to exFAT. I have to see if this will work when i get home tonight. My question is has anyone else had these issues and what did you do to resolve them? dhh3
Can you copy your iTunes Library from your computer to the external HD? If so, use the USB and the Radio will think it is an iPod. It may take a while to recognize the files before it will play.
redtomatoman
I'm sure others who know more will chime in, but I remember something about memory capacity being a thing. Too big and it won't work, I think? FAT32 sounds right for format. I use an iPod. Works well except for some skips in the music. I like the playlist option. Haven't tried a USB drive in mine. I keep meaning to. Also intrigued by the SD card reader. Haven't tried that either. Peace.
linuxguru
How do you power the 250G drive? Or is it just a large capacity USB key

dhh3
The more I play with this 8.4, the more I hate it. I searched hi and low for an iPod Touch with iOS7. They all come with iOS8 now. Uconnect only supports iOS7 until they come out with an update. Loaded all my songs from iTunes, and NO ARTWORK! What a POS! My RBZ MyGig in my Nitro had it way over this piece of Junk, except for the screen size, which is nice. So, I bought an SD card, and copied my iTunes on it. Single song playlist, in alphabetical order of album name! WTF? Looked it up on the internet. It seems, at least on a PC, you have to load your iTunes into the Music Folder. A couple of steps, but I finally got it. Loaded iTunes back on the Card, from the Music Folder. Still no artwork. Put the card in my computer, opened the iTunes Folder, and there were 6 or 7 subfolders. Looked at each of these, and there was one folder that was just Code. I took that folder off the SD card, and put it on my desktop. SD card works perfectly now. I can search songs by artist, album, song or type anything in to find what I'm looking for. I have no idea what that folder with code was, but, apparently the SD card does not use it. Erased the iPOD, and reinstalled the way I did with the SD Card. Looks fine on the iPod but NO art on the 8.4. I'm stumped. So, the SD card is fine until I find a fix for the iPod. onecrazyfoo4u
Yeah, but it's just artwork...do you really need the picture for each song to show? I guess it's somewhat nice, but definitely not needed. As long as the music plays, that's all that matters to me!
