automatic download of address book from bluetooth cell

Recommended Posts

We have just taken delivery of a full meal deal RT...nice car, really, I used to sell Mercedes and this has most of the bells and whistles on that an E5004M had. i have not been able to get it to download the address book from the two blackberry 8310 curves that are paired to the uconnect system. it says this is supposed to happen automatically. having searched the internet for references, I have not found much usable info. the car was a dealer trade in from out of province and the manuals for the MyGig/Uconnect and DVD dont seem to have made the trip to cowtown. does anyone have and info or experience with this issue?

thanks for any help in advance..

I ae 2 curves as well. I have not had to download the book. It seems that on the curves it uses the blackberry for voice recognition. I used it under the original OS and the new OS for it on the phone. The biggest problem I have had is one or the other not waking up to link up in bluetooth mode. So I get "Uconnect Ready" instead of blah blah phone is connected. Once I wake both up they sync so I am working out a routine to make sure it happens automatically.

I have an Iphone 3G and it does not work with UConnect. I hope the new OS 3.0 will fix all the issues it has. Due out in summer.

You can get it to work if you disable automatic syncing of the address book in the "E-mail, Contacts, Calendars" - then choose "Mobile Me" and disable syncing of contacts. (This is all done in the phone).

You will know LOOSE ALL OF YOUR contacts in the phone.

They will remain on Mobile Me and on the mac though.

And you can get them back by activating sync again.

When you have disabled syncing of the address book uconnect will no longer get caught in an endless loop trying to download your contacts from the iphone.

Some MyGig radios have available updates that take care of this problem - It's not an apple problem I think.

The REZ-version that I have doesn't have this update yet though :-(

You can check the unofficial site www.mofv.com/mygig for updates - you will loose warranty if you do it yourself though.

I have looked into it, although not in the past few weeks, but Mobile Me is 99.00 per year subscription. It is so far an Apple issue as I did not have any problems with my Motorola Q phone. The Iphone won't let downloads occur via blue tooth. That is how the UConnect works. Thank you for looking out. Apple is coming out with a OS for Iphone this summer 3.0 it is suppose to correct all known issues and some not known, lol. The blue tooth issue being one of them.

I have also looked into this and as far as I have understood it's an uconnect/dodge issue (or whoever makes the mygig firmware).

Uconnect chokes on something in the address book records. And Apple is probably using a standard v-card format for this.

It is however fixed in the latest firmware for the RER version (firmware 9.807). If you have that version ask your dealer to upgrade your mygig and you will be all set. (This also tells me it's not an Apple issue. Although I can understand. I agree that the mobile me is a little pricy. But you can disable automatic syncing in the phone. And then reactivate syncing once you are out of your car again. The syncing is quite fast).

This problem is a real bummer. I just got a 2009 Dodge Journey and was looking forward to using the Uconnect with my 1st generation iPhone, but have had the same problem as everyone else. After reading many of the helpful posts on this subject I deleted all of the contacts from my iPhone and then it worked. I don't have a Moblie Me subscription and do not want to pay $99/year for that. Once in my vehicle I started adding one contact back at a time to see if I could maintain the connectivity between Uconnect and my iPhone. After playing with adding and deleting contacts it appears that 10 contacts is the maximum I could add without the disconnect/connect problem happening again. So I guess I will have my most important 10 contacts for now and be able to use the Uconnect. I hope the update is in the near future.

Apple is suppose to come out with the Iphone OS 3.0 this summer. They have info about it on apples site. The update 2.1 allowed the UConnect and Iphone to work. When the latest update 2.2 & 2.2.1 came out it stopped working. We can not go back to 2.1 either, so the OS 3.0 is our only hope for now.

I'm hoping for an updated firmware from Dodge for the MyGig long before that.

There is an updated firmware that do take care of this problem for the US MyGig, RER-version 9.807.

But not for the others yet. Please contact Dodge directly, not the reseller, about this. That could possibly put some pressure on them.

If not, our other hope is for iPhone OS 3.0 to take care of this…
