Weird noise

I have a 2009 journey within the first three months of owning it (used bought in 2011) the power train cracked 3 times the big guys from Chrysler came and decided I needed all new tires since the dealer had tires with different tread on them it fixed the problem hasn't happened since but now I have a weird grinding like noise while driving and curving right and left worse on the high way where it does sometimes while my wheel is straight. I have been told I need new hubs but this is a 500-600$ job and would like to know if anyone else has had this problem? Also it doesn't like to down shift while coming to a stop or reverse it then slams into gear when I press the gas sometimes or it just stales out. Help please!!

I'm not very sure they replaced my tires and the problem hasn't happened again =] they allowed me to transfer the warranty for a year I'm not really car smart and had been googling to see if I can find a similar problem came across this forum and wish I would have seen this before I purchased the car looks like there is many problems! So I'm hoping some one can give me advise before I pay big bucks to fix it! Thank you!

For the slow downshift, I'd suggest checking your transaxle fluid and having it changed if it hasn't been already. Typical transaxle fluid changes are every 30,000 miles, sometimes 60,000 miles depending on the vehicle.

The powertrain is your engine. Replacing tires will not effect a "cracked" powertrain. You're probably referring to something in the drivetrain (transaxle, AWD transfer case, axle shafts and CV joints). I've heard AWD systems are vulnerable to bad tires.

Regarding your current noise, it sounds a lot like a bad hub or CV. Does the noise increase with vehicle speed (not engine speed)?

I'm thinking that the list of things right above your post was the diagnosis of a mechanic... I was thinking the same thing though and agree.
