Jick Nordan
It doesn't matter what scanner is used as long as it is OBDII compatible it will retrieve the code. I wish we could offer some better advice on what to do but with no code given I can't even direct you to a helpful link on the net. Since you are stationed out in the UK is your DJ a diesel model? Do they still have Dodge dealerships in the UK? If you are under warranty then you will need to contact the dealer and arrange for it to be towed....at their expense if new. See we thought the same thing about the OBDII scanners but shit you not the guy I took my Wrangler to worked on UK Jeeps all the time. But when he plugged his scanner into my US Jeep the whole thing lit up like a Christmas tree and then was completely non-responsive until we did the 15-min battery reset. Then after driving it a few miles the same warning lights came back. As for the Journey, its a US model that is brought over and sold to us via AAFES (U.S. military associate department/will sell you anything). Called the dealership/delivery garage this morning and they said they have no reason to think anything bad can happen to it if I did an oil change. To bring it over and they will have a look tomorrow. SO until I am odering a scanner. Thanks for the help guys will keep you posted
jkeaton
Whatever you do, dont clear the code before taking it in to the dealer. They need to be able to diagnose. Without the code, they wil send you on your merry way saying "unable to duplicate the problem".
Lobitz68
There aren't any wires located near the filler neck, filter or plug on mine...highly doubt a wire could have been accidentally disconnected. That, and every wire has a locking mechanism that is pretty damn difficult to remove even if you are trying to remove it. jkeaton
Jick Nordan
Everyone can relax. One of the dumbest answers to this whole thing much like I feared. The 2014 DJ's oil filter is slightly different and has a 1 character difference than the rest. So once I swapped out the oil filter all returned to normal and I was able to use a Global setting on a reader to clear the code. Journey_SeXT
Thanks for posting back JN as that will help many DJ owners. I didn't realize the change until I read the attachment provided below. BTW it was an oil change gone wrong how did you manage to get the wrong filter? Here is a useful attachment Oil Filter Dodge Journey.pdf Jick Nordan and rolly
B4ZINGA
Glad to see you were able to find easy resolution. I wasn't aware the Journey had a unique filters. Yes, those break-in change days died many years ago. I didn't have my factory fill changed until the change light went on around 8200 miles. Ryan Rutledge
Pardon me for butting in, but was the problem that the threaded fitting didn't quite match (causing an incomplete seal) and he unknowingly lost oil? Or is the difference in the filter elements such that flow is restricted so that the oil pressure readings were causing the engine to enter limp mode? jkeaton
That's a good question that was never asked. I can only assume it interfered with the flow of oil.
Jick Nordan
The way I figured it out was thanks to my buddy who is a Ford mechanic. He said there are a lot of new filters that have nipples, some are offset (those are the real pain), and where this nip goes might push down a button/sensor or might be where the reading sensor is.
