Uconnect 8.4 & 8.4N Update / firmware

Recommended Posts

I have a freemont 2014 with 8.4N system.
I was going crazy over the bad download page at crystler that supporting dodge/freemont uconnect & garmin(gps) downloads.

After I finally manage to download my updates both for the Uconnect and garmin(gps) and verified the update worked perfect (dident even loose any settings I had)

I made my own download page to help all others that can't make the original download to work.

Here you can find my page and hope it will help out.

Cheers.

How to check if you need an upgrade:
Press the: temp up & down down & defrost buttons at the same time for 9 sec (they located under the screen), when your car is in "run" mode (press RUN two times without break pedal)
Then enter radio menu and check the version and compare to the version I have for download.
Goopd luck.

yes it works on the 2015.. just did it on mines today. I didn't see any changes in the menu or function. Just want my uconnect to read/display my LG memory card like my wifes Cherokee does

I saw the same as far as Bluetooth connecting quicker. I'm just waiting for uconnect to make the LG G3 100% compliant for our units.

I notice that when I remote start my DJ from far enough away that bluetooth doesn't reach (I have 3000' range) that my bluetooth will not connect when I get to the car... Any idea if the update fixes this? That would be awesome!

I downloaded one from a 2014 SXT. It uses the same unit, so i used a vin from a 2014 model, downloaded and installed it on my 2015. I don't have remote start on mines, but the bluetooth seems to connect within 5-10 secs of starting the car.

Mine does too, but I have to be within bluetooth range... at almost 3000 feet I am WAY outside that range. 10 minutes later when I get within range it will not connect.

Check your phone to see if it needs an update. If not, delete extra Bluetooth connections on your unit and make your phone is set to be preferred connection.

All of that has been done... I think it has something to do with how long the car is running before I get within range. If I am in my house and start it, no problem. BUT, at work where I am pretty far away it just doesn't connect. I'll try the update some day when I have time to look into it... Who know? Maybe it will work afterwards.

BT generally has a range of 30 to 60 ft depending on obstacles and

other devices within that range that have BT active.

Ha! You guys are killing me... I get that I am way out of range. It is just annoying that it doesn't connect when I get into range (after remote starting). Hoping this fixes it, but until I have time to update I won't know. I will update as to whether it works when I do get around to it. Thanks.

Anyone have the most recent version for the uconnect 8.4 RE2 2015 Journey SXT

Goto the page and send me a message with your VIN number (located at left corner of driverlocation, looking from outside of the car, windshield)

need the last 8 characters and numbers) and I can check if its different from the version I have on the page.

Or.... press the: temp up (red) & down (blue) & defrost buttons at the same time for 9 sec, when your car is in "run" mode (press RUN two times without breakpedal)

Then enter radio menu and check the version and compare to the version I have for download.

  • Official Dodge Support

Why would you expect updates? Does it have any bugs that require updating?

Actually there was one back in 2011 to eliminate little MP3 dropouts, but it was my dealer that applied it.

bramfrank,

You bring up a good point, software updates are ordinarily released to address needed improvements.

Does anyone on this forum remember the days when your vehicle was built, sold and driven?

These days, technological advancement is now in such high demand.
