zamoon
What is it called? It is the rubber stripping on the exterior on the bottom of the window. On my rear passenger left side it is slightly warped and I want to replace it. I have a 2012 Dodge Journey SXT. A part number would be preferable, I have been browsing the Mopar and Chrysler OEM sites for this car and I can't find it. Thank you
rolly
I believe they are called outer belt moldings. I had to have all four of mine changed under warranty at around 5,000 Kilometres because they were defective. The part number on my invoice is 23-063-033. Mine is a 2013, so I don't know if the part numbers would be the same. Hope this helps. jkeaton

rolly
All of them had small indentations that looked like little waves in the material. I haven't had a problem with the replacements.
B4ZINGA
Daylight opening trim is what I've seen a number of times for window trim. Don't ask me why some OEMs have to make it complicated and not call them windows... Lobitz68

zamoon
I appreciate the response guys. I'm going to check on the part Rolly mentioned. I believe the 2011 - 2013 are essentially the same car, so I am pretty sure the part will fit. I will contact a Dodge dealership for 100% confirmation and update with what dodge calls it lol. zamoon
Well I went to the manufacturer, I am looking at $110 for that part alone and $150 for install. I am wary of doing the install myself, I HATE taking apart inner door panels. I will update my post with a part number.

Usually you just need to roll the window down. Not positive for the DJ, but that has been my experience on other vehicles... EDIT: Not under warranty any longer? According to the guys at the dodge dealership they have to remove the inner door panel because the rubber strip is screwed in about 2 inches down on the inside. Lobitz68
huh... maybe that has something to do with the waviness... Seems that something that is affected by the weather would be free to shrink and expand, but with it screwed down that isn't going to happen. Regardless, it isn't a difficult task to take off the door panel. Certainly not worth that install rate...
apellefigliodapollo
Zamoon You don't have to remove inner door panel I've had wawed trims on both rear passengers doors and they changed the two trims under warranty Total time for the operation: 10 minutes and they did not removed the door panel. This has always been my experience... Seems stupid that they would pin them down. I think the dealer may be misinformed or trying to screw you over... Have you tried pulling up on them to see what happens? I bet they come right out.

Oh!!! On the ends... that makes more sense. I was picturing them along the length of the trim. DEFINITELY skip paying for that install...
