Will D
Hi, I am new to the site. We are looking at a used 2013 DJ Crew AWD. It has 20700 miles on it and seems in great shape. One owner lease. We are looking to get a bigger suv than our Subaru Forrester. We went from our Durango to this in 2011 when the gas prices went nuts. Just wondering other than I keep hearing about brakes possibly still being an issue is there anything to look out for or know about ? Thanks WIll Edited January 10, 2015 by Will D
bigtsr
Welcome to the forum. The brakes on the DJs were upgraded to larger size in very late 2012 so the '13 should be good to go. I haven't noted many posts about brake issues on the '13s.
jkeaton
This. ^^. Also, on the earlier models ( I had an 09 before my current 2023), I replaced the factory rotors and pads with some decent aftermarket parts and never has another brake problem. Most people experience repeated brake problems because they take it to the dealer and the dealer uses the same crappy parts..
rolly
Welcome to the forum. I have a 2013 SXT and have 55,000 Kilometers (34,000 miles) on mine and have had no problems with the brakes. It's a great vehicle! OhareFred
I have an 09. I also replaced the rotors and pads with aftermarket and haven't had an issue since. If it has the stock Kumo tires plan on replacing them, they suck in snow or wet. Other than that, I really haven't had any issues with my R/T. Wish it was AWD though. bramfrank
I put 60,000 km on an '11 (with the smaller brakes) and never had an issue with those and when I traded it in it had lots of pad left on the original brakes - it is largely about how you use the brakes. The '13 has larger disks and pads - but if you drive like a cowboy you will still burn through pads and warp disks. Will D
Thank you everyone for the information. Already found a link here for extended warranties here too. It's the Chrysler one and is priced just about the same as the Car Max one. That could save a few $$ and maybe the better one to buy. jkeaton
You looking at one through Carmax? That's where we bought ours.
Will D
Yes. Any issues with Carmax or their warranty ? They seem pretty straight forward. No pressure and sales rep is laid back. Not sure on their warranty thought. I like the $50 reduction, but the one by me has shop hours of m-f 9-6. I may go with the Dodge warranty as I can go to any dealership near me or work and get Saturday hours and some have late hours if I should need work. jkeaton
Like any aftermarket warranty, some have issues, some don't. We have not had to use it yet. Still under manufacturer warranty. Do like we did, as soon as we purchased ours, we took it to the dealer and had it checked over. Won't bother with carmax until the manufacturers warranty expires. Will D
Did the dealer charge you for that ?
