wrenchpro
What is the possible link?!? Recently my 2009 Journey started behaving weirdly. When I shift into reverse the rear wiper, although selected off, starts to operate. Once I shift back into drive it stops in whatever position it is in and stays there. If I then select it "on", it will move to the "park" position. If, while still in reverse I select it "on", it will stop at whatever position it's at, and when I shift into drive it will then function normally. Didn't know there was any link between a transmission selection and a rear wiper!!!
dhh3
Well, at least you can see when you back up. Try disconnecting the negative terminal on your battery to perform a system reset. Are you getting any codes? You might want to try and retrieve any stored codes before you erase them, by disconnecting the battery. Lobitz68
There is a bunch of wires that go into the rear hatch. Likely one of them has stripped a little and is shorting out... This is a known problem for earlier models I believe.
bigtsr
What he said ^^ -most likely a short in the wire loom cabin to hatch door.
wrenchpro
Thanks folks. I do need to check codes anyways as i have an intermittent ABS light issue. I will check into the wire bundle at the hatch hinge line but will likely wait for it to warm up!
larryl
My 09 had to have the harness replaced in the rear hatch as there were wires broken where it hinges
