sdeveau
Am I right in assuming the groaning noise when we turn left is NOT supposed to happen? I've read that people have had their reservoirs replaced on the power steering pump, does this fix it? I have to take my Journey in on Friday for brake maintenance (they squeal and won't stop, gets worse while driving, not the pads, they said they're fine). I'd like to notify them of the problem with the steering when I take it in for the brakes so they can fix it too. I just have to add one thing. They told us they're giving us a rental for the time it's in the shop, which is great, we have to pick it up around noon because the rental place won't have any vehicles to our liking until that time, so when we told the dealership this, they asked, "So when will you be returning the rental?" Duh...when you fix my Journey!! You tell me when I'll be returning it!
wyoram
Duh...when you fix my Journey!! You tell me when I'll be returning it! LOL that's funny I had the power steering thing done. But I did not have the noise issue. But after the repair I swear it has made a different noise at least two times. Maybe I am just getting paranoid. I was told by a dodge service guy that the power steering thing should be done before any problem can occur. They are supposed to do that kind of stuff if you car is in the shop for other things. The idea is to replace the problematic parts before the customer has a chance to report it. I can't remember what the term was called. I know it wasn't TSB, it was called something else. There was also something about the brake sensor that the dealer did too. Some people have had issues with this too.
sdeveau
HAHAHAHA fix it BEFORE I report it!??? Oh that's funny! They don't always fix it when I DO report it! Seriously, I had it in the shop for a week. The problem with my brakes still persists (though they say they test drove it, where? around their lot?), and they told me the noise in my steering is "normal". Yeah, sure it's normal, it's a normal DEFECT! I do love my Journey and I can say that with confidence because I've driven more than a half dozen rental vehicles in the same/comparable class since I purchased it. I'm just so annoyed with the little problems and the way the dealership treats me. I'm a woman though, I shouldn't expect to be treated like an equal. But that's ok, because when they talk to me like I don't know anything, I just sick my husband on them! Then they get their act together! hehe
wyoram
Your dealer sounds a lot like mine. I just picked it up from the shop to have a squeaky headliner fixed. I had a new headliner put in and they must have messed up on the install. You could press on the headliner with your hand and make it squeak. So the first time I go to pick it up the first thing I checked was the headliner with my hand. Still makes noise. Went right back in to tell him that you did not fix the headliner. I took the asst manager out to the car and showed him. Still don't know how they could miss that. The second time the car was in they did fix the headliner. I also had them look at the roof rack rails. The back ones are too close together. So when you slide the crossbars to the very back it put a good bit of tension on the rails. The rails have spread apart a little bit. Picked the car up and the asst manager again told me the roof rails were fine and the tech looked at the other Journey's and said it looked the same. I went and found the manager. Who by the way knows how to deal with customers. Very good customer service. First thing I told him was I don't appreciate being lied to and explained my problem. He agreed with me 100%. With the roof rails being messed up I don't see a fix for it and the manager was stumped too. But he was willing to drop the car off at a body shop to see if anything would be done.
sdeveau
What I don't understand is how they can really think they can get away with it. I mean, do they think I'm making these problems up just because I want to waste my time taking it in to them? If I wanted to drive a different vehicle every other week, I would just rent cars all the time. But I don't, that's why I purchased a new vehicle! wyoram
Made a hard left turn today. Made a u-turn and I heard the noise twice. That was my main concern for them doing the TSB or whatever Dodge calls it today. It was better before they touched it The thing that really gets me about mechanics these days is if the computer does not tell them what is wrong they can't fix it. sdeveau
No kidding! Like when my alarm was all messed up. They did a diagnostic and it reported nothing to them, so they told me there was no problem, I must have hit the panic button. When they actually physically inspected it though, they found faulty connections.
crh47
Same thing here with squeak in rear wheel well. Picked up the car...backed out the driveway....SQUEEEEAK. Did they not think to test it before they told me the problem was solved. How hard would that be. We love our Journey, but the service is rediculous. These are small issues that I expected with a first year model JUST FIX THEM!!!!!
sdeveau
The service manager believed me, checked for the TSB and actually found it! Parts are ordered. Dude told me 2 or 3 days (that was monday), though I fail to see how they will come in that quickly since they are BACK-ORDERED!! Not surprised at the misinformation... kered118
same here they replaced the reservior , now they make it worst! anyone could tell us what to do with this? I think my dodge dealer could not fix this one!
sdeveau
I did have my reservoir replaced within a couple of days. I had to take it in for some other work and they replaced it, the brake pads and rotors, and the driver's side wiper blade. I was thankful that I didn't have to bring the vehicle back again to do it later; very surprised the part came in so quickly. The noise is still there, while it's not as bad as it was when I took it in for repair, it's about the same as it was when we first picked up the vehicle, about 15,000kms ago. I'm guessing it will get worse as we continue our Journey, we'll have them look at it when we take it back in for other warranty work.
