pacman
Hi It seems to work fine indeed. Is it possible you post some pics of wiring and connections? I am looking for a way to have DRL on my DJ since I bought it, so I've liked your video, and I'm going to try something like that, but I need some help. I've got a couple of questions: Is light switch set to off position when DRL turns on? Is it possible to switch DRL off? Thank you in advice. dhh3
FYI. Factory DRLs come on as soon as you put the car in gear (D or R). Mine are my high beams at a lower power. But, I have seen DJs that use their front signal lights as DRLs. Not sure when/why the change came about. Potlicquor
pacman
FYI. Factory DRLs come on as soon as you put the car in gear (D or R). Mine are my high beams at a lower power. But, I have seen DJs that use their front signal lights as DRLs. Not sure when/why the change came about. DJs sold outside North America haven´t enabled DRL's, and it's not possible adding sales code to our VINs, so, this is a pretty good way to have DRL using high beams (as you say, at lower power, I suppose that's why relays must be used). I've been reading a little bit about relays and connectors, and I can´t guess how high beams are powered without setting on the switch on the lever next to the steering wheel. Please, italian friend, need some help. dhh3 and Potlicquor
apellefigliodapollo
I'll post photos and details just a little patience, i'm out for work for a couple of days and my freemont is in my garage at home (Anyway, finally i could use the lights swich in the "auto" position. When you start the engine the high beams are dimmed. When you turn on the lowbeams, the dimmed high beams turns off and so on... it works like oem drl) Edited April 1, 2015 by apellefigliodapollo Potlicquor
apellefigliodapollo
I have a very unexpensive solution to share for drl on (led) fog lights too... just a relay and a couple of cables.just a couple of days... apellefigliodapollo
@pacman i see you are from spain... you should buy this from ebay it's an unexpensive solution, the installation is very easy and it works fine! I bought two H11 and HB3 extension, so you can connect the relay whithout touching the OEM wires... FOR DRL ON FOG LIGHTS (very unexpensive) you need a relay like this (i think you can find it, for a couple of US bucks, in every shop of electrical stuff) then connect the wires from the relay to the positive of the two wires of the fog lights and the positive of one low beam (so the relay have the signal to switch off the fog lights) this is the electrical diagram: CREDITS for the idea: italian fiat freemont forum Edited April 1, 2015 by apellefigliodapollo Potlicquor

pacman
Thank you very much. Now I have to dare to install it, I'm not used to do maintenance but I think I'll start with the fog lights option (it seems to be easier than using high beams). apellefigliodapollo
The high beams option is almost plug and play if you use the extensions an the ebay relay Potlicquor

pacman
Thank you again. I think I'm going to use this option on high beams, it will be my DJ's next gift. apellefigliodapollo
Winston
Why does a company fit this safety device then make it so difficult to access for its customers? If you see on the UConnect that the vehicle has DRL fitted with a switch on or off then that should be it. Either on or off. No sales codes. No mile long forums of people complaining they cannot get a safety feature fitted to the car operational. This is deception. There should be a class action or a recall. Arrrrrr.
