Grippo
My horn was beeping when switched off in the garage. The batt went dead, a faulty cell. I have replaced the batt thinking it may have been telling me that it was getting low. The horn is beeping again so I have disconnected the horn for now. Any ideas on what it could be? sher3ck and dhh3
bigtsr
Welcome to the forum. I would suggest you have either a short in the loom that runs from passenger cabin to motor compartment or bad clockspring assembly in the steering wheel. The actual horn switch on the steering could also be the problem it is now a normally reported source for this occurrence. Grippo
Thanks mate. Would it be better to put it into the dealer or would a yocal mechanic be able to do it? I'm about 1hr and a half away from a dealer is why I'm asking. dhh3
bigtsr
I would say local to start with as it could a over night solution as some electrical turn out. Of course it's up to you and as it is out of warranty without a loner car your a long way from home. dhh3, Grippo and jkeaton
Grippo
Well the local service centre couldn't fix it. Off it goes to Dodge, they don't even know I don't think. Now in the fuse box, there is a ticking sound. I'll let you know how it goes in a couple of weeks. One things for sure when I fix it, it's getting traded and I'm never going a dodge again. dhh3
OhareFred
There was a recall for the clock spring on some models. When you buy used, you take your chances. Could have been in a wreck.... dhh3 and jkeaton
Grippo
Bought it brand new (in Australia). At 28000 kms I had a new transmission, four new rotors and brakes. Now this. Sure that was unde warranty but it now expired on warranty by 12mths. A five year old car that's done 70km shouldn't have to cost me 2k to fix. OhareFred
I agree. Look into the clock spring recall. There was also a recal for a wire loom, but I think that's was to the drivers door. If you try to fix it yourself, be careful of the airbag! Good luck! jkeaton, Grippo and dhh3
luisaboya
Hi Grippo, did you repair the horn´s problem? I have one in Brazil with the same problem, and don´t know how to fix it. dhh3
Lobitz68
Hi Grippo, did you repair the horn´s problem? I have one in Brazil with the same problem, and don´t know how to fix it. Unfortunately people come on here to fix an issue and never come back. It would be nice if they would report what fixed their issue, but this rarely happens when they aren't active members... Looks like all 4 of his posts are in this thread. jkeaton and dhh3
jkeaton
He did say when they fix it he was going to trade it and never own a Dodge again. dhh3

Mauricio Pelissari
There seems to be very common, people just come to get some help and then gone, i once did it my self, but in the end i started enjoy coming here to see if i could help in any away... for funny fact i was parked yesterday waiting for my wife to come back to the car, suddenly the car horn went by it self... now had to pull both fuses out so wouldn't bother any one especial neighbors.... now will have to go to a dealer to check it out... normally these horn switch that gives the problems... hope to get it fixed fast, after all a ticket for not having an working horn is not nice...i would try something my self by this switch is located at the steering wheel and with the air bags close to it... no very nice... i couldn't find any where that shows how to dismount it. dhh3
sher3ck
I have had the same issues with the horn (along with SOOOO many other issues). Everything we tried to do did not fix the issue so we have Just had to "unplug" the horn (which really makes me happy seeing as I have my children in the car with me) dhh3
