Mother's day negotiating! Had to haggle to get sticker price on our new 2015 dodge journey

Hi everybody, we just traded our dodge avenger for a brand new journey. My wife is pretty happy about her new car. Literally just bought it a couple days ago and we are out doing errands.

I'm thinking about getting the lifetime warranty, is it worth it? Or maybe can someone direct me to some links to get so unbiased opinion about it paying the extra 35 a month. Or is there a better option?

Also if there are other resources out three to get the most out of our vehicle. We got one without a luggage rack, so I'm thinking we'll add that on later. Any Opnions? Thanks

well i think i am about to pull the trigger on buying the lifetime max warranty and so far the best deal is from Zeigler dodge dealership up in michigain. he wants $2240. using the (gregh) discount but after talking to him he said he could drop it an other $25 by useing (save100 )code so about $2215. with the $100. deductabile per occurance. also the lifetime max coverage is not transferable to the next buyer but it can be cancelled at any time up to 7yr or100k which after that there is no refund.i am thinking since i plan on keeping this one alot longer than my last one and since i am retired i dont need to be trading cars every 3yrs like i used to. and since cars are getting so much more expensive to fix, this does sound like a great deal. what do you all think and or any better deals on OME dodge warranties out there??? still hoping to get a better deal.....oh and thanks to gregsJourney for the link to the Zeigler website as it sometimes is hard to pull up on google.......P.S. when i was talking to bob about the plan he said no taxes on it and said dont forget to use your best reward credit card when paying for it.. so that would be about $25. more off when using my rewards card... lol looking for every trick to save some $$$$$$$

well just bought the lifetime max warranty with unlimited miles with a 100. ded. was about to go over the 12k miles and going on a trip tomorrow that would have put me over the 12k thus it would raise the price $200. so bit the bullet and paid the $2215. plan on keeping this journey a long time. love the looks and the silver color was real easy over the internet already rec a copy of the purchase and they said mopar will send the reg paperwork in about 3 weeks. you save a lot buying it here than at the dealership hope i don't ever need it but figured if i keep it as long as my truck( 14. years) figures out about to $157 yr. check out the forums marked extended warranties use this web address http://www.chryslerfactoryplans.com/ it was where i bought mine and was the best price for it.. good luck

I have Lifetime Maximum Care on my 2013 Journey, and I work for a dealer. Even though I pay less for repairs than most, even dealer cost on some big-ticket items is pretty expensive. That touch screen radio, for instance. I recommend it highly, especially if you plan to keep your car a long time. I still have my last new car, a 2000 300M with 300,000 miles on it - which would still be covered by this plan if it were available at the time.

Wow, those plan costs in the US are excellent - we can't get lifetime up here from FCA for any amount of money, only 7/160 (that's 7 years and 100,000 MILES) and they want almost $4K for the zero deductible version of that - I am not a high mileage driver and managed to score my 7/115 (that is 7 years and 72K miles) zero deductible plan for dealer cost, which is $1,610 up here.

I bought the platinum lifetime warranty. Free towing, free oil changes every 3,750 miles, free tire rotation every other oil change; after the 3 year/36,000 mile warranty runs out, I am 100% covered for the life of the vehicle, with $100 deductible. So, I would say, yes it is worth it. It is an insurance policy. Look at all the problems that keep popping up on the forum. I will never have to post a problem, because my Dealer gets it if anything should go wrong.

I bought mine last June, and have a little over 5,000 miles on it. I will run out of time before I run out of mileage on my Factory Warranty. But, I have never had to go back to the Dealer for any problems. Just one update for the Radio, and to turn on the DRLs. Soon, to have the hitch installed and the yellow fog light bulbs. This fusion in my back is taking its time to heal!

Welcome to the forum. I too bought the extended warranty and like everyone else says it's well worth it for all the electronics. I only wish we could get the lifetime warranty here in Canada.

Well at least you have free healthcare for life....

Their tradeoff is 12 feet of snow every month of the winter (and a requirement that they like hockey - nothing against the sport, just never got interested myself). I'm pretty sure you have it a little better down in NC. What's it like driving a car in February that hasn't gotten a state-funded white/gray "paint" job?

Great system, but It's paid through our taxes. Manitoba and B.C. also have public auto insurance, which I wish we had in Ontario. I hate dealing with insurance companies. You keep paying year after year and when you put in a claim, they nickle and dime you to death so you're no further ahead. They should have to pay me so much a year and collect from me when I die!!!

AHhhh!! the other great myth "FREE HEALTHCARE".BS

It's universal healthcare which means access to it is free to all.

I just renewed mine and it costs me on average $2200.00 CAN per year

and that's with my former employer paying an additional $1500.per year.

When you turn 65 in Ontario your drugs (most) are covered by the province.

Then they in turn tax your payments to your healthcare provider and add

another $300. bucks to your provincial tax yearly.

Does that sound like free???

Get the warranty. I also have the lifetime, $100 deductable. Just had the rear shocks, stabilizer bar ends, bump stops, springs all replaced. About $1200 parts/labor for $100. I paid about $1200 (don't recall exactly) from my dealer when I bought the car

I've never purchased a warranty... but then I've also never used one. Buying a 1 year warranty tomorrow on the rebuild of the transaxle in my 300M tomorrow evening (hopefully it's done by then). I can see the value if you're planning on driving it into the ground. I might be selling mine after the 3/36 expires if the Journey-replacement SRT is within range of my needs, desires, and wallet, so there's no point in having one on my 14 R/T. If I feel like I'll keep the next one forever... I might consider it.

The save100 coupon still works. I asked the dealer to match it so that way I can lump in with the car loan.

It sucks that it's not transferable. I was going to get a lower plan like 120k 8 years or 100k 7 years but the price difference is only $300. I guess it would be a big difference if I was paying it all in one lump sum.
