Tadek Janczykowski
Guys, I've finally purchased my Journey 2009. Now i'm trying to upgrade it. One of the features I'd love to have is uConnect. The question is is it possible to install it in Journey SE ? I see there are a lot of uConnect MOPAR kits on ebay, but is it even possible? Thanks
dhh3
You can add it. It is a module with a stick on microphone. You will have to find out if the 2009 is a High Speed Bus or Low Speed in order for it to work. You are lucky with the old style radio. Remove the radio and unplug the big gray connector. Plug the harness that comes with the kit into the radio. Then plug the harness that was in the radio into the new harness. Done. Run the microphone wire and stick the microphone wherever you want. The directions may say by the driver, but I put mine in the middle of my Nitro. I do not know where the module mounts on the DJ.
bramfrank
dhh3 knows whereof he speaks. I saw the title and was going to comment that uConnect no longer means Bluetooth and that ALL Journeys have uConnect . . . . . . but before the 2011 came out it meant something different. jkeaton and dhh3

pseudus
Hi guys, new here. Just bought a 2009 DJ and am pretty happy so far. When I bought it, I noticed the UConnect buttons on the radio and didn't give it another thought, assuming it was indeed equipped. You can imagine my disappointment when I hit the button and my head unit returned the a message telling me UConnect not installed. So the above is good news, can anyone provide a link to the right thing to get please. Thanks... EDIT: Just did some research and am surprised at the cost of the module. Doesn't seem worth it to me, I can just install an aftermarket head unit with the features I want and more for the same price. Sorry for the counterproductive post. dhh3
First, you have to find out if the 2009 DJ uses a low or high speed bus. I did for get one step in my original post. Once the module is installed, you will need to take it to the dealer to run the car through StarScan, or whatever they call it now, and have it turned on so that the car knows it is there. Mopar got cheap. Originally, the Uconnect buttons were on the rearview mirrors. Then, they moved them to the radio, whether Uconnect was installed or not.
