i m concerned about oil change message .i have got Dodge Journey RT 2014 model odometer reading is now 20,000 km now.It started displaying 'oil change due message' for the last three days . I m still driving it and i had been driven already 100 km and i still cannot do anything because service booked appointment is after three dAys so I have to drive it which will be 150km more with its oil change message.

Then after three days it will be at service centre then they will change oil.

I wanna know if I can still drive 180km more before its service done even with oil change due message

It will be its second service since I bought it.

Waiting ur reply guys Thanks very much

I would have imagined that you have had a previous oil change in 20k .

Am I wrong to assume that?

Normally an extra couple hundred kms after that notice comes on is

not a big deal in itself , the light and suggested margins are nominal.

It's like the expiry date on food - 'best by' does not mean 'bad after'.

Keep driving, unless this is your first oil change in 20K km, in which case I would do a drain, fill, drain and refill (not at the dealer) . . . . . do NOT admit to it being the first oil change if indeed it is because your warranty will have been forfeit.

According to my manual, you can drive 500 miles after the message comes on. On my 09 it comes on at 2,500 miles like clockwork. I just check the level and reset the message. I use Mobil 1 and change every 5,000 miles. Never an issue.

When as the first service done? I assume around 8,000 km? You've got 500 miles from the first time the light comes on to get it changed.

Metric, people. The OP is only at 12,000 miles.

Jack stands are fine. Never just the floor jack. I've got a 3 ton set that I've been using for my T&C for the last 2 1/2 years. I need to get some pinch weld adapters for everything (I want to take better care of the Journey than I have of the van - this one is MY baby!), but I'll be using the jack and stands for the Journey the same way I have with the T&C.

Sounds like a TON of extra time wasted. Ramps are cheap and easy.

Unless you're doing a tire rotation while the oil is draining. I've got my oil change/tire rotation combined time down to about 45 minutes and 3 paper towels. For a minivan.

6 of one, half dozen of the other for me. I have ramps too. It's a quick lift jack. One or two pumps its high enough to slide a jack stand under. Either method, 15 minutes, I'm done.

Not bad... You should see if you cut down the paper towels though. Seems excessive. :)

Where do you place the jack?

I personally don't even jack the DJ for oil changes. It's high enough off the ground for me to easily slip under and drain.

But when I do jack it up (for tire rotations, brakes, etc.), I jack at the front, center cross member bolt (so both wheels lift up at the same time). Then I slip two jack stands on the sides.
