JourneyDrivinMom
I've only had my '14 DJ FWD SXT since the end of March. Bought it with 6900 miles and got the message to change oil at 7000 miles. Just hit 14,109 and have not received another oil change message yet. It's been awhile since I've owned a newer car - but 7000 miles seems like a lot to me in between oil changes. Should I just wait for the message indicator? Thx!! bigtsr
Welcome to the forum. This is a subject that is as perennial as dandelions. Oil changes are up to you and what ever you feel comfortable with from your past vehicle experiences failing that you should read the owners manual for guidance . If you don't have a manual you can download from Chrysler customer service website. The electronic alert built into your Journey takes in a lot of factors before it activates and those time periods vary in accordance with driving style and environment but you should not exceed the manuals recommendations. bfurth
As long as the oil used is Chrysler MS-6395, you're good to go as long as 10,000 milles/12 months/within 500 miles of the reminder going off, whatever comes first. Use a quality filter (at least as good as OEM), and get MS-6395 compliant 5w-20 oil (it's a 2015 - both engines call for 5w-20 preferred); use synthetic or conventional, it's your call (the change interval is the same either way, as long as you want to not have to fight Chrysler with warranty claims for the engine). dhh3
