Just installed Running Boards on RT no drilling

Recommended Posts

I put these on my Nitro and rarely used them. Everyone has there own way of looking at things, but I think that the DJ is too low for these. As everyone has one, this is just my opinion.

I put a set on our Nitro as well. While they DO help keep the sides of the vehicle clean, (which was the intended purpose) they are in the way when entering/exiting the vehicle. The Nitro has a very poorly designed seat in that there is a piece of plastic on the side that is prone to breakage. I've replaced the driver side, now the passenger side is broken. What the running boards did was make it more difficult to miss that plastic piece when entering/exiting the vehicle.

I would caution you to monitor this on your Journey. While the Journey has a much better designed seat, the plastic on the edge might still break over time.

There have been a number of posts about the passenger

side plastic breaking already , mine did the 1st year so

I modified the mount (plastic) and it has been ok .

What did you do to modify the mount? I've been thinking of trying that with the Nitro. Might be the Journey is similar.

I took the easy way out.

At first I tried to Gorilla Glue it but that lasted about a week.

I ended up drilling 2 small holes through the plastic on either side of the

steel capture bracket and used a heavy duty black cable tie wrap through

the existing bracket hole and covered it with black tape patch.

You can also fit a screw into the bracket if the plastic is sound enough.
