Petra Martinez
I recently bought a 2010 Dodge Journey and one of the tire sensors broke and has now been replaced. I now need to buy some air stem dust caps and I was told now to get any metal caps to avoid more corrosion. I found some on Amazon and it was confusing because it said "Anti-Theft Locking System RED-D Metal Chrome Tire Rim Valve Stem Cap". I emailed the seller to ask if they are metal or chrome. And here is his response: "the cap is metal and its surface is chrome" So they are metal right? I was told I should only purchase plastic or chrome ones. So this one is metal? Lobitz68
Sounds like metal that has been chrome plated... dhh3

dhh3
ebay has a set of chrome plated plastic caps with the Mopar M on the top. Everywhere I go, people ask me where I got them. The top comes in different colors. I chose black.

bfurth
Thats what I was going to say...lol Sadly, that cheap of a solution does not exist for the rubber stem versions. But I've still got a cheap answer for that as well. It's not perfect, but, as they say, it's good 'nough for gubment work! dhh3 and jkeaton
bramfrank
So everyone knows, Chrome IS a metal. jkeaton and dhh3
dhh3
So everyone knows, Chrome IS a metal. Unless it is chrome plated plastic. Chrome (metal) on the outside, plastic on the inside. These caps I mentioned have worked perfectly on every Mopar I have owned since TPMS was introduced. The original style of TPMS was one piece which included the valve stem. The new versions have a separate valve stem; so much less expensive to fix if you have a valve stem problem. Lobitz68
So everyone knows, Chrome IS a metal. True, Chromium IS a metal plating, but it can be put onto another metal or a plastic.
bfurth
True, Chromium IS a metal plating, but it can be put onto another metal or a plastic. And Doesn't FCA know it! Just look at the Chrome Appearance Package wheels! dhh3
dhh3
And Doesn't FCA know it! Just look at the Chrome Appearance Package wheels! The ones on my Nitro were horrendous. I sold them and bought a set of 20" Mopar 5 spoke wheels. Changed the whole look of the truck.
