What kind of the phone holder do you use in your DJ?

Radar display eh? Haven't seen that. I use mine for nav too, the voice comes over the speakers and tells me what I need to know while I am streaming over bluetooth. I have a Note 4, so it is much bigger that your iPhone, but I am a big dude, so it doesn't feel uncomfortable in my pocket...

In the past I have had window holders that are phone make specific. The phone "plugs" into the holder and charges while on it. Also, placing it on the holder would activate a specific set of apps that you determine are useful when driving. I would be surprised if there isn't something like that available for the iPhone. It may cost a bit more, but it is worth it if you want a quality phone holder.

The cubby under the radio, or the cupholder. Although I can control the phone without ever taking it out of my pocket, it helps the microphone catch my voice if it's out. Besides, even when I say "OK, Google Now, Navigate to the Landing Strip Gentleman's Clu... err Kroger!" I still have to enter the unlock sequence before she pulls up the directions. Kind of annoying that they advertise it be controlled without hitting the wake button, but it still needs to be unlocked if it needs you to pick options...

One of these days I'll get a mount that sits on top of the dash and grips its (no sticky pads) so I can have the nav screen in view. My buddy has a Nexus 6 on a magnetic mount with wireless charging in his 2015 200... and it looks ridiculous with such a big phone blocking the windshield lol.

Yep, phone as display: http://www.amazon.com/Escort-0100014-1-SmartRadar-iPhone-Version/dp/B008LXRA7E

Siri doesn't like my accent and voice activated systems never understand me :) Besides, I don't like them telling me what to do :)

I have a sticky pad on the back of my sunvisor that holds

my Samsung Tab 4 for nav.

This is neat :)

I'm not aware of solutions like app launcher for iPhone. NFC is still not allowed by Apple as well. There some roundabout solutions to make this working, but they are way too more complicated on iPhone.

I use one that fits in the CD slot. I don't listen to CD's, but if I did, this does not impede the operation of the CD player. I like to be able to see the screen for GPS purposes.

I have an Insignia. It either sticks to the windshield with a suction cup - too far away, comes with a pad to sit on the dash - doesn't fit the contours of the dash, or clips to the vent. I use the vent clip. It swivels 360 degrees. I have my iPhone 6 clipped to it in portrait view, when I use it for Nav. Otherwise, I just sit it in a cupholder.

It amazes me they dont put more "convenient" storage places for electronic devices in cars. I guess they dont want to contribute to distracted driving by having the phone accessible, but then they pack every conceivable option into a touch screen which requires taking your eyes off the road to adjust something.....

CD player is so low in the DJ... Is it actually "in view"?

The reason is because the car makers want you to use their system, not someone elses. Apple and Google have run into many roadblocks put in place by the automakers because the automakers are very reluctant to cede control of anything in their product to a third party, even their system sucks big floppy donkey d***. That's why CarPlay and Android Auto haven't been adopted by all automakers, and part of why they're only minor companions and OEM systems still dominated the dashboard. They want you to store your device in the console, hence 12v charge ports, USB ports, and aux. ports are normally in the console or in a cubby below the radio.

My DJ has a small pocket on the side of the center console for a phone or small device. There's one on driver and passenger sides. Works well for me since I have Bluetooth and utilize my vehicle screen for Nav and music. I hope my next phone will allow text functionality though.

Peace.

Yes, we have these too, but they are too small to hold the phones we have and end up popping out of them.

I use the Scosche Magic Mount. The sticky party is mounted vertically as far right as possible just beneath the silver trim to the right of the rightmost stereo knob.

The phone is held to the mount by a magnet so it's really easy to attach and grab without fumbling with any buttons or moving parts. It works great. My phone has never fallen off. Just make sure the metal plate is attached to the outside of your case unless you have a super thin case.

My phone sits in my pocket, where it belongs.

The system delivers calls, audio and text messages and such to the uConnect screen and I can generate canned responses - no need to have the phone accessible unless I am looking for gas because the TravelLink feature doesn't work on Canadian vehicles.
