Matthew George
Here's the issue, I cant lock the car with the FOB, so I use the button on the door(s) or just push down the plunger. I can unlock the car with the FOB (lights flash ect). I open the door, the alarm goes off....as soon as I get the FOB in the ignition (not run or accessory just in) the alarm turns off, and I can start the car. Any ideas? TIA dhh3
bigtsr
Have you tried resetting the TIPM? dhh3
jkeaton
Try disconnecting the battery for a bit. dhh3
dhh3
If you don't lock your doors with the FOB, you interrupt a series of events that must occur to keep the alarm from going off. jkeaton
Matthew George
I'll try to reset the TIPM. I've replaced the battery & have let it sit disconnected for 30+ min. Dhh3......what? How is it interrupted if it never started.... dhh3
dhh3
Electronic steps. If you don't lock it with the FOB, it thinks it is being stolen when you unlock it with the FOB. jkeaton
Matthew George
That's some excellent programming.... but even if I use the physical key it still goes off. But what you're getting at is the alarm will go off no matter what I do, short of driving the POS off a cliff....or get a new FOB. dhh3
2late4u
you give no info on age of journey so i suspect you are out of warranty but try going to a dodge dealership and show the manager the problem he might have a quick idea of whats wrong, good luck dhh3 and jkeaton

That will solve all your problems. 2late4u, Woah322, Lobitz68 and 2 others
dhh3
If your FOB will not lock your doors, it may need a new battery. Think of it this way: the FOB is the transmitter, and there is a receiver in the car. If the signal only works one way, the receiver may be bad. I don't remember the name of it. jkeaton
bigtsr
If it's a 2011-2015 it would tell him in the EVIC window if the battery was weak/bad. dhh3 and jkeaton
Woah322
Electronic steps. If you don't lock it with the FOB, it thinks it is being stolen when you unlock it with the FOB. I lock mine all the time with either the inside or outside button and then unlock with the FOB as I'm walking towards the car, never been a problem dhh3 and jkeaton

briandf
I had a weird experience with my 2011 journey the first month after buying it .. thought it was a good idea to leave fob INSIDE car when I got out [wife inside, listening to radio]. Problem arose when I forgot to put the fob in my pocket an hour later when we got out for lunch. Firstly, horn kept beeping when I tried locking the door (new to passive locks and didn't understand what was going on} After lunch when I opened my car door, the alarm went nuts, horn and light wouldn't stop. Finally got it to shut up LOL and never left the fob inside car again ! Funny thing though; since that day, Emergency button on fob does nothing when I press it. dhh3
dhh3
Why do you unlock it with your FOB when all you have to do is touch the door handle (you say you lock it with the outside button)?
Lobitz68
Why do you unlock it with your FOB when all you have to do is touch the door handle (you say you lock it with the outside button)? I have literally NEVER used my FOB. Just keep it in my pocket... so easy to lock and unlock without it.
