Car is unlocked/alarm still active

Recommended Posts

Here's the issue, I cant lock the car with the FOB, so I use the button on the door(s) or just push down the plunger. I can unlock the car with the FOB (lights flash ect). I open the door, the alarm goes off....as soon as I get the FOB in the ignition (not run or accessory just in) the alarm turns off, and I can start the car. Any ideas?

TIA

That's some excellent programming.... but even if I use the physical key it still goes off. But what you're getting at is the alarm will go off no matter what I do, short of driving the POS off a cliff....or get a new FOB.

Yes, drive the POS off a cliff. That will solve all your problems.

Electronic steps. If you don't lock it with the FOB, it thinks it is being stolen when you unlock it with the FOB.

I lock mine all the time with either the inside or outside button and then unlock with the FOB as I'm walking towards the car, never been a problem

I never use my FOB... always lock and unlock with the driver's handle. Never any issues here either.

  • 1 month later...

I had a weird experience with my 2011 journey the first month after buying it .. thought it was a good idea to leave fob INSIDE car when I got out [wife inside, listening to radio]. Problem arose when I forgot to put the fob in my pocket an hour later when we got out for lunch. Firstly, horn kept beeping when I tried locking the door (new to passive locks and didn't understand what was going on} After lunch when I opened my car door, the alarm went nuts, horn and light wouldn't stop. Finally got it to shut up LOL and never left the fob inside car again ! Funny thing though; since that day, Emergency button on fob does nothing when I press it.

Why do you unlock it with your FOB when all you have to do is touch the door handle (you say you lock it with the outside button)?

I have literally NEVER used my FOB. Just keep it in my pocket... so easy to lock and unlock without it.
