Brig Posted September 6, 2015 Report Share Posted September 6, 2015 Hi, I pulled out a front seat headrest because I bought seat covers for my Dodge Journey 2010, unfortunately I didn't realize there is a wire for the AHR and I pulled it out, the connector came loose. Now the airbag light is on and I am not sure what to do. I was reading here it could cause the airbag to go off and this makes me very nervous. Can I re-connect the wire without problems? Disconnect the DJs battery at the negative jumper point before you do anything electrical on these vehicles. Is there any risk the airbag will go off if I drive, or is it just a warning that the airbag won't function? bigtsr Posted September 6, 2015 Report Share Posted September 6, 2015 I don't believe it will go off because those connections are only for firing and not triggering the actual deployment. dhh3 Posted September 6, 2015 Report Share Posted September 6, 2015 The battery itself is located just in front of the driver's side front wheel. There are remote disconnects on the front of the driver's side wheel well under the hood. Disconnect the negative first, and wait a while for all the diodes to discharge. bigtsr Posted September 6, 2015 Report Share Posted September 6, 2015 I honestly don't know what the wiring convention is for seat belt but it is integrated with the seat weight sensing and seat belt home position. OhareFred Posted September 8, 2015 Report Share Posted September 8, 2015 If your airbag light is on, you have no airbags. There are airbags for the rear seats in the back of the front seats. Brig Posted September 9, 2015 Author Report Share Posted September 9, 2015 Thank you all for the help, I went to the dealer today and they fixed it, airbag light is off again, the connector in the seat is hard to reach and would not come apart easily and even my regular garage would not touch it. Same thing happened with my daughter's Journey last night. I just got quoted $160 just to look at it. He said it sounds expensive.... John/Horace Posted January 10, 2023 Report Share Posted January 10, 2023 If the wires are clearly marked and you know polarity. Unhook battery for 10 mins to discharge all stored power. Don’t want to accidentally trigger airbags. Then solder and heat shrink broken wires. Hook up battery again. May have to clear codes to get rid of light, although 20 start cycles might clear it.
