BlindSquirrel
Greetings! I purchased a Black 2013 SXT in September and remain thoroughly impressed with the performance of the vehicle so far. Love the big touch screen and multiple nooks and crannies to store bits and bobs. The air con vents in the 3rd row and built in booster seats were the tipping points to choosing this over the local (korean imported) Holden C[r]aptiva; this vehicle just has so many more features for a relatively similar price. I've already made a few posts and will likely make quite a few more. When I get the kids to help wash her next time, I will take some pics to post. My main query is regarding the extended warranty, can it be purchased for a private sale vehicle? I'm not sure it is even offered in Australia to the extent that you can get it in North America, which begs the question of whether or why not. I know that the reliability of this model has been a lot better since around 2010 or so but even still... Lobitz68
Depending on miles, you should be able to get an extended warranty from mopar. That is assuming the rules down there aren't different... jkeaton and dhh3
dhh3
Welcome. Consider getting one. Piece of mind concerning all the electronics which can/will fail. jkeaton

BlindSquirrel
extended warranty from mopar That was an interesting read. The standard FCAA Manufacturer's warranty states: "Certain changes that you might make to your vehicle do not, by themselves, void your FCAA Manufacturer’s Warranty. Examples of some of these changes are: • Installing non-genuine parts ... However, your FCAA Manufacturer’s Warranty does not cover any accessory, component or part that FCAA did not supply. Nor does it cover the costs of any repairs or adjustments that might be caused or needed because of the installation or use of non-genuine parts, accessories, components, equipment, materials or additives." So it seems that the rest of the vehicle is still under warranty! The previous owner's wife reversed past a pole and took out the passenger wing mirror, so he replaced it with a non genuine one whose connector is apparently a couple of inches too short and so is not connected to the controls on the driver's door But there is no mention of an extended warranty available for purchase. We don't have your lemon laws over here and Fiat Chrysler Australia is one of the worst for customer satisfaction in multiple surveys. I'm hoping that's due to Jeeps being trashcans on wheels. jkeaton
BlindSquirrel
For the record, that wife saved me about $4000 off the normal price of the vehicle. dhh3 and jkeaton

1530journey
Searching in vain for information on molar extended warranties in Australia. Do they exist. Or is it only something offered through a third party here in Australia. Thanks dhh3

Curious as to why you think that Jeeps are rolling trashcans? The Australian members on the nitroforumz were saying the same thing about their Nitros when Chrysler pulled out of Australia. And now you are driving a Dodge? The new Grand Cherokee was designed when Diamler owned Chrysler. The new Mercedes M Series is based on the Grand Cherokee. The Cherokee is based on an Alfa Romeo. Can't get better DNA than this.
BlindSquirrel
It's just the reputation they have here. The most reliable vehicles these days seem to be Hyundais of all things.
