Ivan Dokov
Hello fellows! Recently I purchased Dodge Journey 2009 model (went out of the shop at 2010) and yesterday the original battery failed. I couldn't start the car. It didn't even try to spin the engine, only the electronics were working. I was warned by the previous owner that the battery is 5 years old and I may have to change it. Now I have to find what's the exact model of the battery, but as far as I know it is somewhere hidden above the front left wheel and I cannot access it without removing the wheel. Any advice? I will appreciate if you point me to a place where I can purchase a new battery and get it delivered to Bulgaria. The local retailer is asking for $400-500 while I see similar models batteries from Romania for about $150. Thank you. jkeaton
I have no idea. Around here we have parts store and walmarts that we can go to and they will match a new battery to the original one for us. Why can't you go ahead and remove the wheel to get to the battery? OhareFred
Hey Ivan, yes you do have to remove the left front wheel and inner plastic fender wells, but its not a big deal. Changed mine in 30 mins start to finish... I wouldnt have a clue where you could get a battery. Mine was purchased at Auto-Zone and was about $160 US. They told me what the biggest size that would fit and I stuffed it in. More CCA the better. dhh3
bramfrank
It should not be too complicated to find alternate brands of battery that will fit in the vehicle - there are web sites out there where car parts are sold and many have cross reference charts.Perhaps if you work backwards, after finding the right part number to find what other vehicles that model battery is used in you might be able to determine a less expensive local battery that will fit.Note that the battery part number for my 2014 that I checked using Amazon is different than the one that Amazon says fits in the 2009 - so the year and the engine are factors in the battery selection process. SteveC
Any chance you have a record of the dimensions? I've been quoted £252 - most batteries in the UK cost about £70. I'd like to figure out what battery I can buy, preferably without going to the hassle of ripping it out and measuring! dhh3

Cross reference and vehicle fitment charts are easily located on the web - if you are in the UK you can find the specifications (and a new battery) here: http://www.eurocarparts.com/car-battery?gclid=CN2nxc7noMoCFQuSaQod1i0Fuw From what I saw a new battery is about 60 pounds from the site I located - and there are lots more out there . . . . eurocarparts also sells via Amazon UK and Amazon has a large selection themselves. Maybe Steve can buy a battery and ship it to Ivan? jkeaton

jkeaton
I get everstart batteries from Walmart. The 3 year battery I had in my truck lasted 7 years before I had to replace it. I bought another one just like it.
