jkeaton
I have not. What does it say the issue is or the fix? dhh3
bramfrank
As it happens I recently updated my radio from 15.02.B2 to 15.09.D1 and the nav from 5.12/CTP15 to 6.22/CTP16. That's the gist of the program if your nav radio is working properly. It is simple to do yourself by downloading the updates from www.driveuconnect.com/software-update and updating your radio and the nav with the latest firmware. It'll take about 20 minutes for both updates. Note that pre-2013 radios use different firmware packages than the more recent models and the above firmware numbers I've mentioned are for the most recent model. jkeaton and dhh3
jkeaton
Ah. So this is for nav equipped systems only. Good info. dhh3

They will check the navigation for functionality first and then update the radio and navigation software level. If the navigation is not functional, the radio may require replacement. Please contact a dealer to make an appointment to have this completed. Thanks, Kathleen Top Care Specialist FCA Canada Clearing the recall is fine, but if your radio is working properly and you have no other reason to go to the dealer, there's no reason to go crazy and to spend hours dealing with an issue that you can easily resolve by yourself in 20 or so minutes. Interesting, the R65 radio issue is NOT called a recall by FCA, but rather a 'campaign'. I gather that the difference is that a recall is a safety mandated matter where a campaign is a voluntary service offering. crossroadjohn
I already had one radio replaced for the can't unlock maps thing. Are they related? And is this a one time deal? dhh3
bramfrank
Yes - they are related. The latest firmware is supposed to 'cure' the problem. And the problem ONLY exists with the navigator; there is no campaign for non-navigator radios. So go by the dealer if your radio is acting up - or simply make certain your radio is running the latest firmware, which is very easy to get and install. In theory once you have the most current versions of the radio and navigator firmware you should be immune to the 'can't unlock maps' issue. dhh3 and Mysty2
crossroadjohn
My replacement radio has been working fine. What I'm asking, because Dodge is calling this a recall, is Dodge going to keep replacing the units for the life of our Journeys?
bramfrank
You can do the update yourself if your new radio doesn't already have the latest firmware . . . . . it is easy to check to be certain that you already have the latest software . . . . if your radio is running CTP16 (it shows on the navigator screen as it starts up) then you have what FCA apparently considers to be 'the fix'.Reading the 'campaign' letter, they seem to imply that this is it - one shot and then they wash their hands of it, though I suspect that if all their radios continue to screw up they'll have to go through it again or perhaps there could be a class action complaint lodged. crossroadjohn
I have to go to my dealer to have the antilock brake recall done. I'll have the nav checked the same time. On a side note, I can watch DVDs on the replacement unit. only when vehicle is not in gear, but the original one didn't play them at all. Official Dodge Support DodgeCares Posted February 17, 2016 Official Dodge Support Report Share Posted February 17, 2016 With a recall or CSN, it would be performed then marked as completed for your VIN. So, crossroadjohn, it would be a one-time replacement (if necessary). With that being said, if you have this completed and have issues down the road that you think may be related to R65, we do have a recall reimbursement request process setup through Mopar Owner Connect. Each request is reviewed on a case-by-case basis. You can read more about that here: https://www.moparownerconnect.com/OC/US/en-US/sub/Pages/RecallsReimbursement.aspx aukfan33
bramfrank
On that basis, I would be inclined to NOT have the work done by the dealer, to update the radio myself and to leave the campaign open and then only to deal with it if the radio ever acts up in the future. Mysty2
The dealer changed my radio in May 2015 because the map could not unlock. Last week I went for the antilock brake recall and the idler pulley. Now my radio station at times change by itself. I am listening to a station and it change to the next one. This happened a few times in the past few days. Anyone is having the same problem??? Could that be part of that R65 radio reprogram issue. bramfrank
Not at all likely. Did you have the recall performed? It is simply a firmware update (actually 2 of them, one for the radio and the other for the navigator itself) . . . and you can do it for yourself if you want to push off the closing of the recall just in case the radio dies after the warranty expires.. Try rotating the tuning knob (the right one) - the encoder wheel may be slightly off at whatever position it is in now. Or perhaps the 'station up' button in the steering wheel or the connections in the clockspring or the bus encoder are at issue.
Mysty2
Ok I will try that. Thanks Bramfrank for the info. I will try the update also.
Mysty2
Just finished updating my radio to 15-26-63 and my nav to version 6.22 and it was a success . Now I will drive it for few days and hope it fix the problem of the radio station changing by themselves. jkeaton

Steve_T
So I checked my VIN, and my radio can be updated to the newest firmware, but is there any benifit to do so? I do not have NAV, and radio appears to work fine. (2015 R/T)
jkeaton
I've never updated mine. No navigation.
bramfrank
Ostensibly you should be running the latest firmware in order to get the benefit of whatever features have been added (none that I know of) and get rid of any bugs that have been expunged . . . . like chicken soup, if can't hurt to run the updates, but it isn't mandatory unless you have the RB5 navigation radio. But as it isn't a recall item on the RE2 radio, asking the dealer to do the update could result in a bill to you, so why not do it yourself? Mysty2
I have been driving the Journey for few weeks now and I did not get that problem again; station changing by itself. Not sure if it is the update that fIxed it or it was one of those ghost problem! LOL Edited March 25, 2016 by Mysty2
