SQUARETOWN JOURNEY
I RECENTLY BOUGHT A JOURNEY SE AND IT CAME WITH JUST A TRADITIONAL KEY TO START THE CAR . DOES ANYONE KNOW IF YOU CAN PURCHASE A KEY PHOBE AND GET IT PROGRAMMED WITHOUT ANY MAJOR RECONSTRUCTION TO THE IGNITION OF THE CAR ? AND HOW MUCH WOULD IT COST
BUGS
I would suggest that if your vehicle came with a regular key then you are stuck with it. The other set up you speak of (Phobe = fob) is completely different in that it relies on a chip programmed to the control modules that recognized the fob as the one to start the vehicle. I am not sure of the cost of 'reconstruction' but I figure it will be very expensive. It will require a new ignition switch, fobs and programming at the very least.
