Backup camera not always working

Recommended Posts

I recall reading somewhere that the cable that connects the camera can break from flexing where it goes through the rubber grommet/tube that connects the body to the hatch.

Of course the camera itself could be the problem or anything else, including the radio itself for that matter.

It isn't rocket science, but it will require competent troubleshooting

The screen going black would indicate to me that the radio is functioning properly. It just is not receiving the image feed from the camera. I should have said this in my first post; so the problem exists somewhere between the camera and the radio, as bramfrank has alluded to.

I think there was a problem with the video output try to check the RCA cable Yellow connector if correctly attached to the video input of your unit. If it does try to check the camera if it was blocked by something that makes the video output turns black. If not try to check the camera harness, the camera itself if it was broken. imao..

I have a 2019 journey, purchased in 2019.About 6 months ago I started having issues with the back up camera. It will mainly work in the early morning hours and sometimes later in the day.It does not always work.It will show a video camera with a line through it.What could possibly be wrong?
