Devilzblood
Hi Guys, Got this car back in Jan 5th of this year so it is still new. Yesterday as I was driving I noticed that the EVIC had a lot of streaks marks and dust so I decided to gently wipe the screen with some tissue. When I did that, I ended up leaving scratches that go from up to down on right side of the screen. I am still unsure how since I was extremely gentle. Anything I can do? Or am I screwed. Do note that the scratch lines only seem to be visible if Sun is directly hitting the display otherwise you can't seem to tell. Unfortunately my morning commute shines the sun at the display so I'd really like to try and fix it. Thanks guys dhh3
bigtsr
I had the same thing happen to mine and tried to remedy it but not successful, learned to live with it. dhh3
bramfrank
You'd think they'd hard-coat those gauge covers, but for some reason they don't and they are VERY susceptible to scratching. I managed to mess up that piece on both my Journeys and yes, you will learn to live with it. dhh3
jkeaton
Same here. I learned the hard way.... dhh3
Devilzblood
Well I am relieved that at least I am not the only one. I am so disappointed on how the design on the screen is. I am thinking maybe a custom screen protector might fill the scratches since they are on the surface and not deep? Not sure if anyone tried that dhh3
bfurth
I only clean mine (and the speedometer/tach lenses, and EVIC screen) with the same cloth I use for my glasses (which have an anti-glare coating). No scratches from that yet. dhh3
Camper
I guess, screen protectors for mobile phone will do the trick. dhh3
dhh3
I used Bausch+Lomb Sight Savers on both my screens. I have slight marks on the right side of the EVIC screen; no marks on the 8.4. The marks can only be seen in the sun. bramfrank
The 8.4 doesn't scratch - it's the center display (and, for that matter the bezels over the tach and speedo) that are made of soft cheese. dhh3 and QuarterSwede

Swiss cheese with just the right sized holes?
bfurth
Go to your local optometrist and get a cleaning cloth and solution for anti-glare coated lenses - if it costs $5, I'd be surprised. The manufacturer of that coating recommends against things so abrasive as cotton t-shirts. If those cleaning cloths won't scratch that, they certainly won't scratch the instrument cluster plastic. And, if the cleaning solution clears up well enough for glass that sits less than an inch from your eye, it will certainly not leave any residue on the plastic. dhh3
dhh3
The Bausch+Lomb Sight Savers are made for this!. There must have been dust on the screen before I used it!
