JohnnyRevs
Just received 2 new balljoint & wishbones for the front suspension from my local dealer, however, I forgot to order the 2 new snap-rings to hold them in place. Can I get away with re-using the old ones, or should I head back to the dealer and get the snap-rings ? They don't keep them in stock so its likely a day or 2's wait. I was planning the swap this weekend but may put it off depending on what people here think?? http://www.factorychryslerparts.com/products/SNAP-RING-FRT-KNUCKLE-BJNT-BRA/4431865/68002949AA.html dhh3
OhareFred
The general rule of thumb is to not reuse snap rings. That being said, I think everybody has reused snap rings when they really arent supposed to and lived with it. If you have to do the job now, reuse the old until the new come in, then replace them. dhh3, jkeaton and 2late4u
jkeaton
Re-use but replace asap understanding they could fail at any time. Edited May 26, 2016 by jkeaton dhh3
dhh3
I'd wait and get the new ones. Eliminates the worry of when they will eventually fail. And, they will. Edited May 26, 2016 by dhh3
Hankster
Depends on the condition of the rings, are they deformed or rusted? If they are in good condition I would have no problem reusing them. It is the press fit that retains them the snap ring is a backup to insure they stay where they are supposed to. Hank dhh3
